Field-Ops Posted November 12, 2017 Posted November 12, 2017 I have a feeling that VR already accomplishes what I'm suggesting to an extent but I wonder how useful it would be to integrate Tobii into IL-2 to imitate focus on distant or close objects. Blur the close objects that you are not looking at and have the distant objects in focus. To make it actually worthwhile have the blur effect somehow distort those objects like the human eye does when looking through fences and other things. If at all possible even take it a step further and see it as a possibility to increase performance by reducing render resolution on those out of focus objects. This could help spotting by looking past all the scratches on the windscreen and possibly even some smaller support bars, while still keeping them in game when your eyes are looking at the support bars. I know Tobii is largely forgotten without much innovation for it after it was released and I've seen the threads about it on this forum. But this idea in particular I have not seen be addressed yet and I dont see any other technology that can accomplish this. Just an idea, it doesnt have to go anywhere. And hey if its going to be integrated with the next gens of VR it might help to think about this focus feature in the future.
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted November 12, 2017 Posted November 12, 2017 Your physical seeing system is blurring everything out of center doing it artificial is only to gain performance benefits by knowing where are you eyes are focused at. This could enable render game at very high resolution but only in small % of whole screen. I wonder how much low latency this tech need to be to work.
