707shap_Srbin Posted November 11, 2017 Posted November 11, 2017 (edited) Hallo gentlemen! I have a question. La-5FN, pictured below, is known used by at least two pilots: Antonín Vendl and Pavel Kocfelda (who got 1 claim on this "White 13" - a 1/2 Ju 87D on 07.10.1944). It is belived, that "Rene" was a british girlfriend of a pilot of this aircraft. Pictures below show Antonin Veindl, at least upper one. According to some sourses, Veindl's regular aircraft was "White 23". Could somebody tell, who was a regular pilot of this aircraft? It was lost on Tri Duba airfield in October 1944. Brano Posted November 11, 2017 Posted November 11, 2017 (edited) You have it in the text you posted. Rene - named after the girl Pavel Kocfelda met in England when serving in RAF. "White 13'' crashed at airfield Zolna during emergency landing.Zolna was a back up airfield of Tri Duby. Fighters used it as Tri Duby has been compromised earlier by german recce and has been attacked repeatedly by germans. According czech aviation historian J.Rajlich, there are 2 records for ''white 13'' 07.10.1944 ppor. P. Kocfelda 1/2 Ju-87 08.10.1944 ppor. L. Šrom 1/2 FW-189 Antonin Vendl flew "white 23'' till almost the end of the war (16.4.1945) when it was handed over to recently established 2nd Fighter air regiment. Overall score of 1st Czechoslovak Independant Fighter Air Regiment during Slovak National Uprising. You can see that pilots did not always use the same a/c. 19.09.1944 La-5FN "71" ppor. F. Brano Posted November 11, 2017 Posted November 11, 2017 (edited) One more info I have found about ''white 13'' and its final flight. 11.10.1944 during landing after the combat flight La-5FN "white 13" piloted by ppor. Tocauer crashed at airfield Zolna due to engine failure. Fortunately he survived with light head/arm wounds. The plane has been written off. Edited November 11, 2017 by Brano

Brano Posted November 11, 2017 Posted November 11, 2017 Antonin Vendl is on photos 2 (reading),3 and 4 of your original post. Pavel Kocfelda is on the first photo (with right hand on the hip like a boss )
