InProgress Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 Just a little idea Don't you think it would be nice? Many devs have this kind of stores with tshirts, cups aand stuff like that. Extra money and i would love to have real stalingrad, moscow etc game map (not ugly AA4 print on my black/white printer), IL2 tshirt with stuka on it
Ribbon Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 I liked the idea too, but Jason mentioned many times that it would be hell for them to manage production and deliveries around the world. Just not worth bothering and i undestand them. But store with virtual products (microtransactions) like photo, bubblehead or something in ww2 style you can put inside your cockpit could work!
InProgress Posted November 10, 2017 Author Posted November 10, 2017 Maybe using stores like jinx would be solution? They sell it and send to people.
Herne Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 Maybe using stores like jinx would be solution? They sell it and send to people. So long as 1cgs get a significant portion of profits, i'd be all for it

No microtransactions. They are a reminder of dark times not all that long ago. It used to be necessary to pay for little things like aircraft loadouts and modifications. Fortunately that is no longer the case. I doubt many people here would want to return to that era.
Lensman Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 (edited) They could do a t-shirt and get it into the various Amazon country locations. That alone would sell really well and Amazon would take care of the logisitics including warehouse space. Most people, I presume, would welcome a shirt? Edited November 10, 2017 by Lensman
Custard Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 Jason has already pointed out that the logistics and costs associated with international distribution of such an idea make it more hassle than it's worth,
Mitthrawnuruodo Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 Furthermore, there are already very many products related to Eastern Front/Great Patriotic War aviation available. Although they are not explicitly related to BoX, they are sufficient for most people. It is not hard to find things with 'Il-2' inscriptions.
CanadaOne Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 I suppose we could print our own stickers made from net images and create our own custom BOX coffee mugs, but where do we send the royalties?

Not that kind of microtransactions that is pay to win and i am strongly against it and wouldn't give a cent for it. I'm suggesting cosmetic feature for cockpit! Throw some Stuka's diving on it and I'd REALLY rock that shirt. 1

That alone would sell really well and Amazon would take care of the logisitics including warehouse space. Most people, I presume, would welcome a shirt? I tried to talk Jason into doing some T-shirts for RoF several years ago - he very kindly gave me permission to create a mock-up sample for my own personal use: But even this simple one done through one of the online T-shirt makers was pretty expensive, and the cost of doing a really nice one was pretty exhorbitant (plus all the other issues he mentioned in his more recent post), so the idea didn't go anywhere. 1
6./ZG26_Custard Posted November 11, 2017 Posted November 11, 2017 (edited) Another way to support is to buy some additional product keys and give them away to family and friends this Christmas Edit: IL2, the gift that keeps on giving! Edited November 11, 2017 by 6./ZG26_Custard
CanadaOne Posted November 11, 2017 Posted November 11, 2017 Another way to support is to buy some additional product keys and give them away to family and friends this Christmas Edit: IL2, the gift that keeps on giving! I suspect there will be a very healthy Christmas gifting thread in action. Especially if there is a sale on, and I suspect there will be one of those as well.
Uufflakke Posted November 11, 2017 Posted November 11, 2017 If you really want to have a products like a t-shirt, mugs or anything alike it is very simple: Create your own design and upload it to the company where you usually order your photoprints. Nowadays most of them offer prints on shirts, bags, mugs, albums or on stretched canvases. Even in the small town where I live the local printshop offer prints on shirts and canvases. Perhaps it is also an idea to have the smiling face of Jason on your pillow printed.
216th_Jordan Posted November 12, 2017 Posted November 12, 2017 Perhaps it is also an idea to have the smiling face of Jason on your pillow printed. lol! That would be great
SCG_Space_Ghost Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 I'll pay $5 for window fringe in my Il2. -snip- I'd pay $10 for the developers to stay the hell away from a cosmetic nonsense virtual store. Wtf is wrong with some people? 3
Mmaruda Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 The average IL-2 cockpit after cosmetic microtransactions are introduced. 1
CanadaOne Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 I'd pay $10 for the developers to stay the hell away from a cosmetic nonsense virtual store. Wtf is wrong with some people? What's wrong with some people? I don't know, maybe they don't have a big ol' stick up their ass and don't take video games so seriously that the idea of a virtual store selling virtual bobbles sends them into a petulant fit of righteous indignation? Could that be it?

Could that be it? Ooooooh, did I hurt your feelings? You sure told me! I stand by what I said - it's a ridiculously stupid suggestion given the history of this product, the hole of shit Loft put it in and the fact Jason et al have spent over a year digging their way out of it. Rid-ic-u-lous-ly st-u-pid. And you're right - I do take the business and continuity of my favorite hobby pretty seriously. Edited November 13, 2017 by Space_Ghost

SCG_Space_Ghost Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 Do you take all your video games too seriously or just this one? Anything relevant to add or am I doing some kind of interview now?
CanadaOne Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 Anything relevant to add or am I doing some kind of interview now? If I was to interview you, I would ask why you take video gaming so seriously that the idea of another guy having some fun in the way he choses causes you such pain. Oh wait... you do know all of this is a video game, right?
Mmaruda Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 Considering all the crap that mainstream video games are packed with nowadays, I'd say Space Ghost is no point. First there is cosmetic microstransactions then we get loot boxes and the whole game is built around that. Oh wait... you do know all of this is a video game, right? 'Video' as tech died in the 90's, and 'game' is something you do with your kids, so they get tired, go to bed and leave you alone. Flight sims are serious business, that pleb attitude needs to go!
CanadaOne Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 From the main IL2 store main page: "By buying the game here, you're making sure that 100% of your investment goes directly to the IL-2 development team. Thank you!" This is a game. It's main purpose, from stem to stern, is to provide fun and entertainment, and it seems there are people taking it a wee bit too seriously. Breathe, gentleman.
Ribbon Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 I'd pay $10 for the developers to stay the hell away from a cosmetic nonsense virtual store. Wtf is wrong with some people? There is nothing wrong with having a customizable photo in your cockpit!Something that will not make circus out of a plane but small simple feature not drifting from ww2 style. Saying something is wrong with ppl desireing that is WRONG, you need to chill and take some break from forum and virtual life! 1
CanadaOne Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 There is nothing wrong with having a customizable photo in your cockpit! Something that will not make circus out of a plane but small simple feature not drifting from ww2 style. Saying something is wrong with ppl desireing that is WRONG, you need to chill and take some break from forum and virtual life! Amen, brother! How one person customizes their cockpit should be of absolutely no concern to any other person. And if it is a concern to that other person, the suggestion that the other person gets a life, and does not succumb to the evils of being joyless puritans, might be in order. If I want a Mickey Mouse bobble head figurine on the cockpit of my Spitfire, how on Earth can that possibly bother anyone else on the planet unless that person is a morose shmuck who can't deal with the idea that someone somewhere might be having fun. 1
sinned Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 I would not buy some cheap t shirts or mugs. I will pay 300+ for a nice ww2 style pilot leather helmet or a pair of gloves that have il-2 engraving.
CanadaOne Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 (edited) $600+ for gloves and a hat that you will wear indoors at your desk while flying on a computer? Buddy, if that makes you happy, go for it! I applaud your level of disposable income. For my part, I'll take the $8 mug and the $5 virtual Mickey Mouse bobblehead figurine for my Spitfire cockpit. [APAF]VR_Spartan85 Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 All I would want in my plane, would be a pin-up custom photo option.. I really enjoyed that from clod... Scarf's and streamers were a good example in rof... we wouldn't need them now but perhaps custom attire for pilot wold be nice,..*hem* oxygen mask... But in the real world I'd love to buy some merchandise.. I know it's said to just buy the product and that's how we show support, but not everyone I know plays flight Sims, or evendors have a pc to try, sad, very sad... I have one friend that even knows what a spitfire i's, and come Christmas I'll be purchasing a BOX title as a gift.. to drag them over from dcs There has to be another way for us to show support then just buying more game keys.
CanadaOne Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 I guess for the time being buying keys will be it. I suspect a Christmas sale and a lot of people gifting keys will be what happens. But I'll take one of those pin up photos you mentioned. Jessica Alba would go well in my P-40.
[APAF]VR_Spartan85 Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 Honestly, how many of us have bought or been gifted everything there is to offer already? I want physical stuff, like a new il2 hat I can put my trackIR on, heck they could even have models up for grabs, mug(for sure), notebook(mission planning), replica aircraft manuals....log book Just pilot stuff...
