Question on Spit Engine - boost

Hey gang,

So trying to make sure I have my arms wrapped around controlling the Spitfire as I am about to embark on a PWCG Campaign flying it over Kuban. To date since getting back into this sim early this year, I have been flying only the Yak-1 Series 169.

The below is taken from the Spitfire Operation notes I got from the forum:

"- Engine is equipped with the automatic governor of the manifold pressure that works when the throttle is set to 1/3 position or above. It is necessary to turn the automatic governor off to set the boost value to +16."

So what command in the sim do I assign for turning the automatic governor off to be able to set the boost value to +16?

I am sure there is a limit to how long one can run at that, anyone know what that is?

Thanks for any tips,

The command is something along the lines of "Toggle boost on/off" it's the same command used in the I16, La5, Mc202, and any other planes with a boost function.

Great thanks so much!

I am assuming I can probably assign boost to the same button on my throttle as I have the supercharger for the Yak-1, looks like the Spit has a single stage automatic supercharger.

Just found out the Macchi has boost. Damn!

Ok answered my own question on the time, it was listed in the operation notes as well - 5 min max for +16 boost @ 3000 rpm.

The notes are wrong and need some future correction concerning that, 3000 rpm + 16 boost is only ~ 3 minutes.

Even says so in the cockpit on the metal card.

Ah, thanks for the tip!

Do not set the boost as the same button as supercharger. In most vvs planes u need to turn one off and then the other on!

Hmm ok thanks, I will go and change that then!

It's times like this I so wish we had individual plane setups for our controllers.

Agreed! I did that, it's a bad idea.

Only the I-16 and La-5 have both a manual boost mode and multiple manual supercharger gears, so depending on how often you fly those two planes, you might put both on the same button.

Actually sounds like a good idea to me, especially on the La-5 F when you can run boost mode indefinately. You only need to engage boost mode once sperately and will then have one button switching boost mode off and changing to second supercharger gear.

Ok good to know thanks. Only VVS plane I have been flying is the Yak-1.
