Great source of reference for developers

Developers, need “if they have not done so already” the complete series of The History Channel’s “Dogfights” accessible in their library. The data comparing aircraft performance and statistics, plus pilot accounts from both sides would be very valuable!

He can't be serious?

Well, the last S in BSS_ obviously stands for squadron; so now it's also rather obvious what the bs stands for.  :P

Guy's, don't be so harsh, he's only trying to be helpful. We can't all be up our own backside know it all's. We can only go on the information we have available, even if it comes from really reputable sources doesn't make it true ( ask Mr Einstien about his theory on a static Universe, for one, if you doubt me). On the flip side sometimes widely ridiculed theories actually turn out to be true, like " The Gulf of Tonkin Incident".

So be helpful and supportive rather than derogatory, after all this a club for all enthusiasts not just a select few.

I honestly thought it was a joke. Didn’t intent to be harsh.

It was a ridiculous request and akin to asking the Bf 109 to be modeled according to Erich Hartmann's biography.

So be helpful, explain why it's all fluff and no substance and then maybe point to some really good, easily digestible, sources or information.

I'm not saying everybody is beyond ridicule, but until proven at least give them the benefit of the doubt.

I honestly thought it was a joke. Didn’t intent to be harsh.

It wasn't particularly you, just the general tone of all the replies.  :)

Well Hans Landa totally shows my reaction.

Tbf to the op dogfights does get the relative performances/advantages/disadvantages correct in most cases but it could never be used as a source of info really as it has little or no real data.

I would say it is a good place for beginners to go to understand the very basics.

And all you expertans mocking the op, don't lie to urself, u have blaitently watched a load of them.

I passionately hate the way History Channel does these programs. Something about the delivery, the phony over-dramatization and the cheap looking visuals just rubs me the wrong way.

That being said, the actual content of the “Dogfight” series is not half bad. It mostly portrays air combat pretty accurately and it generally gets its facts right - unlike most HC shows. My only problem with it, content-wise, is that because it shows an action lasting mere minutes or just a few seconds, it drags everything out and over-analyzes the situation and in particular the thoughts going through the pilots’ minds. “Pilot John Doe knows, that he has only seconds to go before his engine overheats and ignites the leaking oil covering the nose of his plane...” Hell no! The guy is fighting for his life! No way he is thinking about engine temperature and oil pressure, and working out in a fraction of a second how long time he has before his plane catches fire, while he’s being shot at.

That would be great! I'd love it if when I logged into the game, I would have to sit through a booming self congratulatory presentation of everything I did last time. And the time before that.

Thanks for the suggestion. Was a fun show. Everyone else knock it off. Don't make this an unfriendly place.
