Kerber Posted November 5, 2017 Posted November 5, 2017 Hello, new to this game but not to flight sims. Love it so far. I especially enjoy the Stuka with the 3,7cm Bordkanone, even though it isn't very sufficient ingame it seems. Comparing real life capabilities according to official documents with what I experience ingame led me to some questions that I found no answers for, I guess they are a little specific, maybe someone here knows. How are the armor and penetration values for ground vehicles simulated, if they are simulated at all that is? From some test-shooting with the 3,7cm BK, it seems to me vehicles like tanks (T-34 for example) have "health bars" instead of simulated armor and critical systems like crew, engine, fuel or ammo storage. Meaning: When I place a 2-round-salvo of 3,7cm AP rounds right in the middle of a T-34's turret, shouldn't this lead to a guaranteed (mission) kill, considering the position of the commander/gunner alone? Or, the engine compartment for example. I engaged multiple T-34 tanks from the side, going for the engine, yet it did not start a fire, or seem to have knocked the tank out of action. How is vehicle damage/penetration etc. exactly modeled in this game?
InProgress Posted November 5, 2017 Posted November 5, 2017 I don't think they simulate it, you need 2 or 3 hits, don't remember now. Black smoke from engine = destroyed.
216th_Jordan Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 Penetration is modelled but its not super sophisticated so it relies on the amount of damage dealt after penetration. Thats why you usually dont get oneshot kills.
