The zip will install to PWCGCampaignBeta directory, so it can live side by side with PWCG 2.1.2.  PWCG 3.0 does not yet support backwards compatibility with PWCG 2.1.2 campaigns, so you will have to start a new campaign.

Report issues here so we can keep them on a single thread.  Things seem solid after the alpha testing.  I'll keep picking off bugs as they are reported.

Everything went well with the beta in creating my new campaign for an IL-2 on the Stalingrad map in February 1942.  Changing air and ground density did not generate the errors like alpha version, and skin assignment recognized the loose skins and assigned them just fine.  Intel info and map screens worked OK, as did changing pilot assignment for the mission. Only thing so far is that I'm still getting the same error/false warning about logs being turned off even though they are turned on.  Mission creation and acceptance went much faster this time, too.

Gonna fly the mission later and will let you know how it goes.

Tried two missions, Moscow map and custom skins for the squadron, fighter squadron II./JG3.  Both missions seemed to generate fine and per the briefing, but no pilots in any of the planes including enemy.  Also, was attacked right over home field and there was no flak or machine guns guarding the base.  Using simple config with med air and high ground.

The new campaign setup is nice and much faster.  No issues with mission gen, AAR, or skin assignment.

Here are some issues.  I tried to set up a campaign with the Spit. which would start 1-1-43 according to the information on the Kuba map.  When starting the first mission all the colors where wrong like too much blue and no snow etc.

I then tired setting up the start date 3-1-43 same issue.  Setting up 4-1-43 campaign all the colors where correct but the planes where lined up facing like thy should taxie to the runway with auto pilot on, they would take off with out being on the runway, only with 70% fuel could we take off with out crashing into the trees.  Also on auto pilot or not the flight would only fly to the first or second way point and would not continue on as no other way points where being generated.

Need to go but on same map started a Yak 1B campaign had the same issues also with 1-1, 1-3-43 trying to start a campaign but with a start date of 4-1-43 that seems to work, completed 2 missions with no problems.

Thanks, Pat

Wonky colors and missing pilots is a symptom of incorrect environment parameters in the mission options.  The game reacts really, really oddly to "autumn" instead of "summer".  It gets weirder because some maps autumn is autumn, on Stalingrad it is half autumn and half summer.  Give me a squadron and a date and I'll get them fixed.

Patrick. I left a Report on Trello. I installed the Beta Version and started a New HS129 Cmpgn. and no Joy.

The same thing happened in the Beta Version that I left the Report from the Alpha Version on Trello about.   Thanks

Beta 2 is up.  Fixes include:

Several bugs related to incorrect mission weather options, including the wrong color tire tracks, winter objects on non-winter landscapes, blue skies (like really, really blue sky), pilot and plane doesn't appear in mission, etc.

Fixed HS129.

Fixed Spitfire airfield issues.

The blue should go away fixed in beta 2.  I checked out the seasons on Kuban, Moscow, and most of Stalingrad.  Ground targets in the woods ... that happens.

Thanks Pat,  fixed the Spitfire campaign in the Kuban map.  Started on March 1, 1943 no problems with map way points and take off position is now correct.  Flew 2 missions and everything looking good. :)

Started a new VVS career with Beta 2 version in IL-2 in February 1942.  Wanted to start it on the Stalingrad map, but apparently picked a unit based on an airfield on the Moscow map.  Probably should be some way to select based on map (or at least maybe indicate somewhere in the creation process which map the selected unit/airbase is located on).

Anyway, everything went fine, including skin management and assignment.  Flew the mission, and managed to shoot down a couple of enemy aircraft that were attacking my wingman during our ground attack runs.  The AAR claims/debrief process went fine, and I was credited with the two victories.  Only slight issue I noted was the recurrence of references to a couple of "botpilots" in the mission debriefing - see screenshot below for example of one such reference:

Very promising so far :)

[EDIT] also started a new campaign for HS-129 on Kuban map in March 1943.  Everything went OK, except that when I was using February 1943 and realized that none of the available units were flying the Hs-129, I tried to click on the "previous step" button and it threw off an error message when backing up from the rank selection to the one before it.  It didn't generate an error log (although the error message said it had), and did not appear to prevent the completion of the campaign creation process once I clicked past the error message.  Will try to fly the mission later tonight and see what happens.

I must admit that I never really gave this a good look w/previous versions. However, I have installed version 3 and I must say that this one great program! Have flown five missions so far in the Yak and have had no issues. The only thing I've noticed is that the mission log files, and missions, are not being deleted. I have mission log files set to 1, and number of missions to keep at 2. Could be I'm just missing some other setting?

I am totally impressed with your work Pat! Thank you for a great addition to BoX.

Hmm, Spit campaign in Kuban - I may have to give this new version a go here soon...

Is it possible to add a Campaign Map before dates and Squadrons?

I needed to go through wikipedia to find what I wanted

I also had the windsock a little bit onto the runway. Can send a picture and mission files later if needed. Flying from Slavyanskaya in the Kuban map.

3.0 is getting solid, and the beta unzips to a completely different directory, so it lives side by side with 2.1.2.

I'm having a fun with this one.  I flew mission 3 where we intercepted a flight of Ju 87's I managed to get one, my wing men got another and damaged 2 more,  however the whole flight used up our ammo.

I then watched the flight attacking the 2 damaged Ju 87's with out being able to shoot at them, don't know if this is program issue or a PWCG issue?

Hi Gramps, start PWCG, open the 'Configuration' on the left side (before starting your campaign), select 'User Preferences', and change the '0' behind 'Delete All Mission Log Files' to '1'. Then you won't get them.

Can't say for certain but it's probably tied together with the AI lacking any form of convincing RTB logic.

I'm going to add this for visibility... The WOFF guys managed some pretty clever AI in the limitations of CFS3... Maybe the devs can take some ideas from them: http://www.overflandersfields.com/index_html_files/WOFF%20DEV%20comments%20and%20more.pdf

Thanks but it is already set to '1', and Past Missions to save it set to '2'.

HI,

having great fun with PWCG 3.0, congratulations and thank you/

I have a bug (?) in the pilot log, where no page is added when the score is too long, therefore only the 9 last victories/A/G destroyed vehicles are appearent.

The error report is joined.

oh, and a suggestion (very minor): could A/G destroyed vehicles and victories be summarized in the AAR summary, (like 2 victories and 2 vehicles destroyed) , in addition to the detailed list.

And in the pilot log, I believe there is only total of air victories: again it would be nice to have.

Good suggestions - thanks.  PWCG started as a WWI scout campaign.  Ground attack in WWI was limited, so that aspect is still sort of a second class citizen.  This is not the intent in the end game.  Appreciate suggestions for improvement.

Patrick, all is running well in PWCG 3.0 Beta for me. I have one Cmpgn in an I16 in Stalingrad and one in a Hs129 in Kuban.  I have moved the windsock 50m from runway center as the 30m was putting it

on the edge, if not in the runway. Have had some artillery in bridges. Not sure if this is just par for the course? Do you want the missions to see this? See pictures.

I was awarded the Red Star in my I16 Cmpgn. I like the SQn log that shows this, see picture, very nice touch. I will continue to test with some other plane types and report.

Thanks for all you do. I am having fun with PWCG in the limited flight time that I have available. Thanks again.

I see that 3.0 has been released, so it's probably too late for this, but what the heck.  Before I saw the release post, I tried flying my Hs-129 campaign mission on Kuban in March 1943, but could not get my Hs-129 to take off - just went around and around in circles.  I would have just chalked it up to not ever having tried to fly that plane before, but the really weird thing was that as I was spinning around enjoying the scenery on the ground I noticed that all 3 of my AI buddies (my leader as well as the 2 that were lined up behind me originally) were out there ahead of me all doing the same thing - spinning around in circles.

I tried doing a QMB by myself and had the same problem (apparently, there's some trick to the Hs-129 that I'm missing - I thought I remembered seeing some threads a while back with posts from people suffering similar problems trying to take off in the Hs-129, but I haven't been able to find them yet).  So my problem was probably unrelated to PWCG, but I am curious why all my flight-mates seemed to have the same problem in that PWCG mission.

Hello,

Re the Hs 129, you have to go to manual propeller control and select the finest pitch. The automatic setting is not correct as it limits the revs .

I believe the ai has been fixed, saw that with spitfire , and it’s gone now,

Thanks - I finally found that thread I saw before with a set of instructions on how to take off in this bird.  Not sure if that'll help with the AI, but at least I should be able to get off the ground with a little practice now.

Vanilla PWCG weather is always too perfect so after doing some tweaking (making average weather the most common and increasing wind speed) I noticed this is especially prevalent when the higher wind speed kicks in.

I'd chalk it up to the AI's pilot programming but I could be wrong.
