madcowz Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 I know... I shouldn't be asking about how to make this game like an arcade game as it is a sim but I used to find this feature very useful when starting out in the original IL2 when I played it many years ago (before my youngest child was born as I told him the other night, he's 14 now) and I'd like to enable this feature in IL2 BOS while I again, get to grips with the sim. Is it possible? You used to edit conf.ini and set Arcade=1 but I can't see a conf.ini any more. Thanks
AndyJWest Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 Not possible. And from what I remember, the weapons strike feature in the original IL-2 was woefully inaccurate anyway. If you want to assess your shooting skills, record your attempts, and play the track back.
1CGS LukeFF Posted November 3, 2017 1CGS Posted November 3, 2017 You used to edit conf.ini and set Arcade=1 but I can't see a conf.ini any more. The game uses an entirely different code base from the original IL2.
ShamrockOneFive Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 I don't think such a feature exists in the new IL-2. The best thing to do would be to record your flights and replay the tracks after. That'll give you some valuable details for sure.
Finkeren Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 Remember, that this sim is not an improved version of IL-2 1946. It is entirely new and based on a completely different engine. Some features that were in the original will not be in the new sim.
madcowz Posted November 4, 2017 Author Posted November 4, 2017 Thanks for the replies. I will continue flying, recording and weeping at my inability to hit anything.
Mesha44 Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 You can turn on aim assist, make sure you are in normal difficulty, or use custom difficulty and check the box next to aim assist. 1
KpaxBos Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 Hello, You can use : Tacview (there is a free version ) https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/30460-tacview-understand-what-happened-during-your-last-flight/ Happy Flights
Tone71 Posted November 5, 2017 Posted November 5, 2017 Both of the above are good suggestions; use aim assist to see where you need to be aiming in order to hit a target and Tacview for 3D overview of your encounters.
madcowz Posted November 6, 2017 Author Posted November 6, 2017 Thanks. I've got aim assist on which is helping and have downloaded Tacview and will give it a spin the next time I get some time to fly.
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 Slow down the time during attack and enjoy bullets impact close view.
