Felix58 Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Any info on how many cores are supported by BoS? I will be buying a new machine soon and the only other software I use regularly is word processing, I have previously opted for a fast single core. Need to know if I should now get a multiple core machine, and how many?
dburne Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 The general consensus at least currently, is 4 cores are the best for gaming. I just built a new system, and that is why I went with the I-7 4820K processor.
LLv34_Flanker Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 S! I have run both AMD and Intel rigs for gaming. No reliability issues whatsoever on either brand. Went from FX-8350 to a Xeon E3-1230 just for the giggles. No discernible difference in BoS performance, both CPUs run the game just fine. Some differences for the Intel are seen in CPU intensive games as Intel has a bit better "per clock/core" performance, but again nothing groundbreaking or anything that would diminish the gaming experience. But as said a Quad core is minimum these days.
dburne Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 Can you still buy a high-end single core processor? I just built a new rig and opted for the i5 4670k (quad) It is significantly cheaper than the i7 and it's still ideal for gaming and almost everything else. Where the i7 will shine is for processes that require hyper-threading such as video editing. Personally, I prefer Intel over AMD as I find them more reliable and nowadays wouldn't consider anything less than a quad-core. I agree on Intel, have not built an AMD system in several years now - mainly since the i7's came out still great that they are there for competition though.
Bearcat Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 I have an 8350 ... it runs everything very well..
skline00 Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 (edited) I have my 3930k rig below, a second 3770k rig and an AMD 8350 rig and BOS runs well on all three. Edited December 27, 2013 by skline00
