vino Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 Hi all! I'm new to this sim, but I'm not a total noob combat flyer. It seems I can not make the elevator trim to work (even with RCtrl+up&down). I have Hotas Warthog. I also have Saitek trim wheel: is it possible to get this thing working in BOS? Other problem is, I can not get outside view of the plane. Can someone help me? Cheers, Vino
xvii-Dietrich Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 1) Elevator trim... which aircraft? On the Ju 52, there is a bug with the elevator trim not working correctly. I don't know about other aircraft. 2) F2 = external, F3 = fly-by, F4 = chase. However... you don't get external views if you have your gameplay settings set to Expert. Put it at Normal, if you want to see external views while flying. Otherwise, you need to record a track and then watch it afterwards.
vino Posted November 3, 2017 Author Posted November 3, 2017 1) I’m talking about bf109 G2... 2) I’d like to watch my plane before I start the engine. As a walk through. It’s not possible?
Sokol1 Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 (edited) I can not make the elevator trim to work (even with RCtrl+up&down). I have Hotas Warthog. If you are using TARGET, this soft has problem with Windows "Modifiers" (RCtrl, LShift...)+key, is need use pause (tempo) between keypress. Or, before set in TARGET remap the command for single key, e.g. instead use RCtrl+ Up for trim use only Up - this key is for default set for "keyboard players" fly the planes, what has not use for most serious players. You can use Saitek Trim wheel for elevator trim, but only in Bf 109, MC 202 - for this two the command is called "Stabilizer Adjustand, and (I think) Ju-52 trim - not sure about command name. But since this device is multi turn their axis move slow, so is need spin the trim wheel fast and be longer time for game controls GUI recognize the axis. Outside View - external camera (F-2 key) is defined by game difficult, you can use in NORMAL or CUSTOM modes, but in EXPERT is not available, and in multiplayer is controlled by server, some allow, some not. vino Posted November 3, 2017 Author Posted November 3, 2017 Thank you for your support! I’m not using Target-software. I will try your trim tip.
vino Posted November 3, 2017 Author Posted November 3, 2017 Tried. Can't get Stabilizer Adjustand to work with trim wheel. And I can not find any tab from custom difficulty to allow outside views...
vino Posted November 3, 2017 Author Posted November 3, 2017 Okay, situation is: - Got the trim wheel to show up in the list - Outside views work, but the trim wheel in the cockpit won't move, no matter what.
Sokol1 Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 In Controls, ahead the command "Stabilizer Adjust" wheres supposedly you have assigned Trim Wheel axis, are a "S" icon, click there, and now you can test the axis response as well set deadzone, sensitivity.
vino Posted November 9, 2017 Author Posted November 9, 2017 (edited) I reinstalled the game. The trim still doesn't work. Well, perhaps I'll stick with my old DCS. Sad. Edited November 9, 2017 by vino
Sokol1 Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 There is no S icon... That "S": https://youtu.be/2-u_5FGe21E?t=240
vino Posted November 9, 2017 Author Posted November 9, 2017 Yes I know. But theres none in my trim wheel setup...
dburne Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 Yes I know. But theres none in my trim wheel setup... Can you post a screenshot of what you are seeing?
Matt Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 Make sure to use the "adjustable stabilizer axis" command, not the "Fw-190 adjustable stabilizer".
vino Posted November 9, 2017 Author Posted November 9, 2017 Can you post a screenshot of what you are seeing? Yes, I will post a screenshot. Just tell me how to take one.. :D
SCG_Tzigy Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 Sokol is right. The wheel trim will only work for 109 and macchi.... The rest, just assign any joystick/throttle buttons/up/down combo... I think it would be very silly to go back back to DCS.... Stick with this. Nothing compares, really.
vino Posted November 9, 2017 Author Posted November 9, 2017 I have assigned two buttons for elevator trim, but they won’t work either..
SCG_Tzigy Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 which plane r u testing this on? rest of the commands/buttons no problem assigning?
Sokol1 Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 (edited) Yes, I will post a screenshot. Just tell me how to take one.. :D In game press the print screen key, or if your game are STEAM version, optionally can press F-12. For the first case look in game folder for the screenshoot taken, for STEAM look at STEAM interface "Screenshots". Then upload this image file for some image host, e.g. http://postimages.org/ Past the link there in your messages. Help if you inform in what plane you are testing the Saitek Trim Wheel because different planes has different trim system and different control method. Saitek Trim Wheel work in this game, but not for all planes. Edited November 9, 2017 by Sokol1
dburne Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 (edited) You can also just upload the image directly to this forum as well. Click on " More Reply Options" and then attachments. Edited November 9, 2017 by dburne
vino Posted November 10, 2017 Author Posted November 10, 2017 which plane r u testing this on? rest of the commands/buttons no problem assigning? I'm flying Bf109 G2. Rest of the commands work well. I tried to take a screenshot, but I can not find it. Sorry.
vino Posted November 10, 2017 Author Posted November 10, 2017 Guys, I really appreciate your support. Thank you for your time!

UPDATE 10/08 - I solved my problem and modifiers work if you use a macro in Joystick Gremlin. Is there any way around the problem with the game not recognising modifiers? I just tried to assign R_CTL+'b' and R_CTL+'r' which should change bomb and rocket mode but it fires bombs and rockets too - 'b' and 'r'. In TARGET, I found a way around with delay d() but in Gremlin, I don't know if this is possible. My thanks. Edited August 10, 2018 by Skipper- solved problem
