Trying out CloD again, questions.

Salutations,

As I've been flying mostly MP lately, I'm thinking of trying out CloD again to scratch my Battle of Britain itch (I stopped playing out of frustration with the AI, but now that I fly MP that hardly matters), and I have a few  questions:

1- Several years ago Snapper told me about this bug with the RAF loadouts (particularly the spit), where the .303s would not actually fire anything (even though you heard them shoot) unless you went in and changed the belt ammo and created your own custom loadout. Is this still an issue?

2- Regardless of the above, what's the recommended ammo loadout for the RAF birds these days?

3- In MP, how do you select which aircraft you get to fly? I logged in briefly last night on the ATAG server (and quit immediatley when I realized all my control bindings were FUBARed and I have to set all that up again), and saw several Spit Ia (with 100 octane fuel), but none showed up on the airfields (there were some Spit Is, and Spit IIs). Is it simply a question of selecting an airfield and picking the aircraft there, and the reason the 100 oct spits were not there is that they had all been used up in the match, or is there more that needs to be done? Can an airfield have more than 1 aircraft type?

4- On the ATAG server, what's the usual mission objective? Just TDM, or are there more specific objectives (like stop the bombers from RAF side, while successfully escorting the bombers for the LW side)?

That will do for now, thank you for all the help. :)

Hello, glad you are trying CloD out again.

1. Not sure about this, haven't heard this before. You need to change your loadouts when you are in a MP server, then make sure you save as. You can't change your belts/loadouts in SP.

2. Historically? Don't use much AP and incendiary. That said, I use a mixture of AP, DeWilde, and Ball. I load a couple tracer rounds mixed in my inner most guns. Convergences, try out a few and see what you like. I used to have a wide difference between each gun (1&8 same, so on) which gives you a shotgun like effect. Now I have everything converging at 250, both Hor and Vert. You have to aim better and get closer in but does a ton of damage.

3. Once you are in the server, pick a flag on the top part of the screen, either the Allies or Axis. Then that will highlight which airfields are active depending on the mission running. They are white airfield logos. Click on the airfield you want, and you will get the default aircraft. Click on the aircraft name above the picture and it will let you pick which plane you want, again depending on what the map maker made available there.

4. Maps rotate on ATAG every 3-4 hours, depending on how long the mission is or if a side completes their objectives. Each mission will have a briefing, most will have 4-5 targets for bombers for each side to win the map. Op. Steamworks has an agent pickup behind enemy lines which if a side completes they win the map regardless. You have to locate where the agents are, land in the field, pick up, and return back to a specific airfield. ATAG has about 9 maps in rotation I'd guess.

ACG also has a server which are campaigns. Not sure when they are active. Check here for more info:

SoW isn't active in CloD at the moment, but check them out:

Also, TWC has a good server going as well.

Since someone post about convergence...

I remember to have read (don't remember where unfortunately) that there was a bug in-game and so the horizontal (how far are you shooting) and vertical (compensation for bullet drop, so we can't misunderstand) were swapped. It's that true or was only a fake news?

BTW I use 50% AP and 50% Incendiary. With some incendiary tracer (very few) only on 2 MGs. 275mt for every gun, both horiz and vert.

This inversion existe in oficial version of the game - and take only edit a text file to fix, is just in Commands GUI boxes, no code involved - but was never cared about by oficial dev's, despite all "Bananas'drama", but was fixed in TF 3.0 or 4.0.

In TF Patch 3.0 - see the readme.
