=SqSq=switch201 Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 I am very excited for the campaign mode and have been telling people about all the new features that will be included in it, but I actually am not 100% sure what all the new features will be. (for example one thing I am not sure of is if your actions will be able to change the outcome of the war/effect the front lines.) Is there a document out there detailing all the expected features of the new campaign? If not, then maybe I will use this post to detail all of the features I am not sure about.
ShamrockOneFive Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 (edited) This is my writeup on the Rise of Flight Career system and in essence what we'll see in the IL-2 Career system: https://stormbirds.wordpress.com/2017/09/09/a-look-at-rise-of-flights-career-system/ It should give you a good idea of how that system works and how the IL-2 system will work because the Rise of Flight system is what was adapted to IL-2. The features including the newspaper and the ace tally are all there. It works really well and its much more immersive of an experience than what we have right now in Campaign mode. Jason did say that they had a little bit of time to iterate on the system so maybe there will be some improvements or added features that Rise of Flight doesn't have. LLv24_Zami Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 Your actions won`t affect outcome of the war or the front lines. Career is following historical route, you are just one pilot trying to survive all that. And maybe get a few kills in the process And that`s how it should be. It`s improved RoF system as ShamrockOneFive said above.
6./ZG26_Klaus_Mann Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 Just read this as "derailing". Go on.
Herne Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 could you co-op the career in rise of flight ? Just wondering what the plans for co-op are in BoX. Is it likely to be single missions ?
Alexmarine Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 I'm interested in how bomber careers will work; will there be any features that are bomber specific? Air victories are good for fighter careers, but what will there be for bombers? I hope greatly for named and tracked crew, I'm not optimistic that it will be there though, is it in RoF? Regardless, I'm looking forward to the release. In RoF the career of bombers and observers planes were not that different from fighters. I think that, more than "kills", the number of successful sorties was considered for bombers and ground attackers during the war...
=SqSq=switch201 Posted November 1, 2017 Author Posted November 1, 2017 @ShamrockOneFive Thanks for that document. has a lot of good information in there. Does anyone know if number of aircraft per side is kept track of. The one thing I thought was silly about the PWCG is that no matter how many planes I ended up crashing (bailout) I still got to fly. I am not sure how it went in real life though. I figured that if a pilot lost enough planes he might not be allowed to fly anymore something like that.

In ROF, yes, your squadron has a limited number of aircraft that can be put out of action for any number of days due to needing repairs.

ROF's career didn't do co-op. PWCG can generate co-op missions if you tell it to do so but it doesn't do it out of the box.
