indiaciki Posted October 22, 2017 Posted October 22, 2017 Is it a downgraded arcade like module or is it as good as the clickable cockpit helicopters, A-10, MiG 21 etc? Just curious. Considering buying but still sceptical.
Field-Ops Posted October 22, 2017 Posted October 22, 2017 Nothing is clickable, you gotta assign keys to do anything. The flight models feel good though to me. Your key planes you get out of it are the F15, Su-27 and Su-33. The rest like the a-10A and the Su-25 are better in their stand alone A10-c and SU-25T modules.
Blutaar Posted October 22, 2017 Posted October 22, 2017 How i understand FC3 is that the F15 and Su33 has advanced FMs but more simplified Avionics. Not sure about the other planes FMs but i think they are kind of simplified.
BeastyBaiter Posted October 22, 2017 Posted October 22, 2017 FC3 is basically BoS with auto engine management. WW2 planes don't have much in the way of weapon and navigation systems, so those being automated doesn't have any real impact in combat or general flight. But automating the engine management has a big impact. FC3 automates the engines, which is a trivial thing unlike WW2 prop planes but it also automates the weapon and navigation systems, which does have a significant impact on flying and fighting in those more modern machines. They aren't full on arcade, but going from something like the F-5 or Mirage to FC3 leaves one wanting for more detail. Sadly, if you want to fly a Russian fighter more advanced than the MiG-21, FC3 is your only option and it looks to remain that way indefinitely.
Jade_Monkey Posted October 23, 2017 Posted October 23, 2017 It's a good intro to DCS. I havent played it in a while but I enjoyed the little i played.
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted October 23, 2017 Posted October 23, 2017 Like Beasty Baiter say, Flaming Cliffs is Il-2 with jets in terms of systems. Good fun, good flight models, a large amount of uses for each aircraft.
Beazil Posted October 23, 2017 Posted October 23, 2017 The rest like the a-10A and the Su-25 are better in their stand alone A10-c and SU-25T modules. The A-10A and the Su-25 are different planes than the A10-C and SU-25T, hence the different names. They are earlier models than the latter mentioned versions. Flaming Cliffs 3 gives advanced flight models to these old planes originally released in Lock On and later Flaming Cliffs 2, and integrates them into DCS World. The A10-C and SU-25T are higher fidelity models with clickable pits. Flaming Cliffs 3 is an appropriate and cost effective "dive" into DCS World - you get alot of bang for your buck, but without the clickable pits that alot of DCS fans have come to appreciate. On the flip side you get access to alot of planes for different purposes that the much more expensive single plane add ons. Hope that helps.
LLv24_SukkaVR Posted October 23, 2017 Posted October 23, 2017 The A10-C and SU-25T are higher fidelity models with clickable pits. No. Only A-10C has clickpit. Su-25T doesnt have clickpit and its free. F-15C, Su-27 and Su-33 has professional flight model https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/support/faq/505/ 1
Guest deleted@30725 Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 Worth the money imo because you get a set of similar era planes that still take some skill to take down the enemy. Fc3 is just fun and the f15 is a good escort for a10c players. Missiles are not guaranteed to hit so thought and tactics are still required. For a time I only used the f15. When you get over clickable pits Fc3 is just as fun.
OrLoK Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 Its kinda a dumbed down dcs. It's not bad though and much fun to be had. Think of it as il2 on easy mode. As a player of the original (flanker?) Its good. In a sale its a bargain.
Royal_Flight Posted October 26, 2017 Posted October 26, 2017 The Su-33 with new PFM is giving me something to fly from carriers, to tide me over until BoX goes to Midway
Lusekofte Posted October 26, 2017 Posted October 26, 2017 The SU 25 T got the same weapons system + more as the KA 50, it is a pretty cool plane. It is a good simulator compared to BOS
dburne Posted October 26, 2017 Posted October 26, 2017 I have it, but have never flown any of the planes in it. Mainly have been flying the KA-50 and the Spitfire. Dabbled a little with the A-10C.
