Ai planes drive bombing grond

noticed if my wingman are high and i'm close to the ground being followed by enemy. When i call for help with the flare the wingman dive bomb the ground trying to help me. Seems they dont/can't pull up in time

They sometimes dive into the ground when they are actually bombing too. That said I remember reading somewhere that they are going to be improving the AI sense of ground awareness/avoidance.
