Model WWII planes

Recommended Posts

I live in Virginia Beach and bought from a local hobbyist a model of a 109g.   I am well pleased.  I talked to the fellow and he is not keen about shipping any model for fear of breakage.  But he was willing to create any plane that I might want.   You would need to contact him yourself on Craigslist.

I have to ask...did you compare this person's finished product to that of other modelers?

Why [Edited] Luke?

Anyways, do your own Uriah! It's fun.

That guy did a pretty good job on the paint job though. Would be nice if he added some panel lines. I like when people do the panel lines. Certain brands allow it though.

Here's some of mine I've done recently. No WWII though. One day I'll do a 109 or 190.

Not having this at all. TOTALLY uncalled for.

I’ve been making my own over the last couple of years too. Thought I reckon anything you can’t fit into the hand is wasted. :)

I did not Gambit.   I've just wanted a model for a long time and don't have the time to make my own.  And LukeFF, it just seemed appropriate to me.   If I want to pay the money he will make me one of Prokryshkin's P-39.

I made Heaps of models as an adolescent, some of the faves that come to mind were  a 'Dam Busters' Lancaster, B17G, Heinkel 177 "Grief"-all 1/72 scale Airfix models: and a Sopwith Camel and Fokker Dr1 and best of all I was given a P51 (either 1/32 or 1/48 scale) that had all access doors and compartments open-able and needless to say highly detailed for the time (circa 1973). So long ago I cant remember the maker-but given to me as a recuperation hobby whilst I was laid up after  particularly horrid car accident I had when i was young and 'invincible' in '73. I wish I had them around now but storage was always a problem with dust and secure storage always a problem. The only one I have left is the Camel but it needs lots of TLC to bring it back to its former 'glory'. Still 45 years later in the 'here and now' they are but a sweet memory.

Fern, while I agree Luke's post was a little aggressive I can't imagine yours doesn't get you some time off. That was way over the top, as you generally are. Need to chill and post with a bit of maturity.

Uriah, I think the general message was; this would be better in the Free Subject sub-forum. I'm glad, however, you got a model you are happy with.

I've shipped models from California to England bubble wrapped, as long as the person receiving is comfortable potentially sticking the odd loose piece back together it's fine.

Anyway, nice model :).

Uriah,

Ignore the haters LukeFF and Gambit. Haters be hatin'.

Thanks for the model pic, nice Gustav.

What's up with the tailwheel btw?

Who's hating again?

I simply asked a question, and I can't help the quality of work that's out there nor that I'm aware of said work.

I don't go looking for things to minimize, and I appreciate a good piece of art, model, etc.

If someone goes out of their way to post here...in other words "LOOK AT THIS", then you're asking for comment - period.

I can't help what I know is possible with those things...and used to build them myself.

If he's happy with this purchase, that's all that matters.

Sorry Uriah, it wasn't my intention to belabor this.,,blame boaty.

I’ve made some great models as a kid. But not a lot of planes actually. My favorite two models I’ve made were the t-Rex from Jurassic park, I really did a neat job on the paint. And a Klingon bird of prey also well painted. Did a b17 once but that was pretty basic, and a f117.

My uncle had a nice collection of tin planes he made with tig welders and a few aluminum can planes aswell.

Ive got a stack of planes to build but never have time to build them or the painting expertise to be satisfied with my work. Got mostly Revell 1/32 scale planes (including the Ju-88 A4 in the same scale) to work on but I'm really wanting to start the A20-G in 1/48 Italeri in light of the coming IL-2 BoK update. I may even give it a soviet paintjob. I made a Tiger II H in 1/35 but kinda just winged the paintjob since I had no airbrush and didnt feel I could get a historical pattern without it. Didnt turn out how I want it so it sits on my workbench collecting dust. One day when I have free time on the weekends again I'll start building some more.

All of these look way cooler than anything I made as a kid!

Aircraft modeling is what originally got me into airbrushing back in the day.

I still have it - though it hasn't been fired up in a while.

That's a good looking model Shamy.
