Mental_Miggy Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 Hi guys. new member. I was wondering if anyone might be able to offer some technical advice. I'm currently using a good pc setup but experiencing low frame rates, or at least lower than expected. I'm using VR. My rig is an OC i7-4790k with a 1080 Ti and 16GB Ram. I'm trying to play with ASW off because of the effects it has on ghosting of the sights and aircraft. Often when in the air my frames will stay up at 90 but dropping around the 40 mark when things are happening or flying low. Switching graphical settings and using the resolution filter dont seem to make much difference so I'm feeling like my CPU is bottlenecking but surely the cpu I'm using should be putting out better performance than this? If anyone can offer suggestions or troubleshooting I'd appreciate it. I've tried clean driver installs etc but it has made no difference.
=EXPEND=Tripwire Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 (edited) Head to this thread - https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/29322-measuring-rig-performance-common-baseline/ Then see how your PC compares to see if your machine is below the trend for others with similar systems. If its lower then you can start to investigate causes. What preset are you running? Ultra/High/Balanced/Low? And what Shadow settings? Super Sampling? Edited October 19, 2017 by =TBAS=Tripwire
dburne Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 (edited) We have similar rigs, and yes you should be seeing better performance. Make sure the HUD is turned off, it really eats the fps. Also make sure in the Nvidia control panel you have " prefer maximum performance" selected for BoS. I think it defaults to " Optimum", change it to maximum performance if so. Set AA to 2x. Also what SS if any are you running? I am running mine currently at 1.5. I run on High Graphics preset with Shadows on Ultra and get very good performance. 90 fps the bulk of the time like flying ingress/egress with my wingmen, heavier combat it may drop into like the 60's and 70's but still very smooth. You say your cpu is overclocked, what speed is it running? Also are you talking single player or multi player? Edited October 20, 2017 by dburne
