Anybody using teamspeak regularly?

After three years of only rarely being able to fly the game I now have time again.  I find it much more fun to chat with others on TeamSpeak (or whatever) while flying together.   I prefer Soviet but will switch.   I can fly from 6 PM Eastern USA to as late as 11 PM.

Welcome back Uriah. I'm trying to use TS more often, when I get some flying time. I'll keep an eye out for you next time I'm on (EST zone).

Welcome back Uriah

I get the impression most that enjoy the company tend to join a squad. And those usually have their own discord/Teamspeak. When the "TAW" server is running a campaign there are a few of us loners on this servers own team speak, but unfortunately right now it's down time for "taw".

From around 19.30 UTC on week days I'm on the Finnish Virtual pilots server (as they have a rolling plane set similar to Taw) and they have a channel on the official BOS teamspeak: Server IP: 8.3.5.133:9407 Password: bos2014
Fly mostly on the allies side but to be honest haven't seen any other english speaking person there yet.

Has anyone succesfully used TS with PS3 camera microphone?

I tried to get it working the other day but to no avail.

Zami, I used to be able to do it (as it's an open room mic, it resulted in all sorts of havoc, the dog barking or people asking me questions irl which squadmates thought was other people on the channel, queue loads of 'say again over?' etc).

I think the camera is now unsupported by drivers though, not sure but I couldn't make it work with windows 10 as a headtracker so switched to TrackIR.

If I get a chance I'll plug it in and try, if I get the mic working I'll tell you how I did it.

There are some tutorials on Google for W10, with links to the proper drivers. Worth a try :)

I`ve used Ps3 camera for head tracking for a long time with CL-eye driver and Opentrack, it works fine with Windows 10. I just could not make the microphone work.

I typically sign on to the  BOS teamspeak but am finding few people there.

A lot of people use different channels, so you need really to know all of them to know where to find people.

I am always on TS when flying, save few rare occasions....

even if there's nobody else using it, I keep it open and ready, in case someone comes on to check if there's anybody else on (lest they leave, upon finding it empty)

mind you, I use the official teamspeak channel - 8.3.5.133:9407 pw: bos2014

I will not use discord due to its lack of plugins.  on TS, I use "crosstalk" to add a very immersive radio effect. and I rely on that to remove bass frequencies from chatter such as would interfere with my bass shaker.

I would rather everyone stuck to using only TS. that would make it vastly more effective for teamwork.  IMHO discord is very aptly named, for it really brings about exactly that. and we're none better for it

Discord is a pretty good chat program. For voice, TS is better.

If I'm flying online, I'm logged into the official BOS TS, regardless of whether others are on or not. Very rare that there isn't already someone on, or someone joins you.

TAW is the only exception, then I'm on TAW TS.

Voice usage is terrible from the community.  Its fantastic that your looking to get on TS, just know, you may find it lonely, sucks, but I've accepted it on TS and Discord.

Funny you should mention, the only time I've been on the teamspeak (a while ago, to be fair) there was no-one else there so I left. I have a teamspeak server with a mate I usually fly with though.

If there are people on it now though I'll jump on next time I'm airborne.

I am going to buy a microphone, so I guess this weekend I will try TS. It will going to be a new experience to me. I always fly lone wolfing sorties.  :)

Interested in participating in TEAMSPEAK, how do I set it up and will the Oculus Rift built in mic work?

Yes, yes, yes. I had no problems whatsoever.

And a +1 for getting people onto the BoS Teamspeak server. Don't be shy, join in. It adds a whole different element to the game.

If alone in the channel: I do understand - at first it does feel like you're standing in a disco on your lonesome - and it feels like everybody is looking at you thinking 'BillynoMates'. That will soon fade; and now I'm in the same boat as Moach above and happy to sit there. Someone always comes in.

As for those who find it irritating with too much chat from people talking over each other. Yeah, I do understand. I found that with other games more so than this, and I imagine it might be worse during busier timezones than I play with this game. And then, on top of that, someone has had a few drinks and...ohhh crikey lol. Suggestions: suggest another channel with 1 or 2 others (there are lots of channels), mute annoying persons (I've had to do this only once), use real life social skills and diplomatically explain/raise awareness that hogging comms is bad form, demonstrate your example of excellent radio speak protocol.
