I'm starting to wonder about a graphics card update myself. I think I'll wait for the next gen from nVidia (codename is "Volta") sometime Q2 of 2018 and see how prices are looking.

I'd say go for the 6GB. In most "normal" games the extra video memory seems to matter very little, however, as you probably know flight sims aren't normal games at all. They do tend to suck up the resources. DCS and IL-2 will both likely use at least a good chunk of that memory!

Just ordered the EVGA 1060 SC 3GB. I know the 6GB would be better, but with the money I saved I was able to spend more on the wife's birthday present and get her the fancier model of the thing she wanted.

My rig at the start of summer was a prehistoric dual-core 2.66Ghz CPU/4GB prehistoric RAM/2GB GTX 950. Now it's an i5-6500/8GB DDR4/3GB GTX 1060 with a nice Samsung SSD. I should count myself lucky to have that. Can't get too greedy, especially with winter approaching. Playing the grasshopper is for spring.   ;)

I am back after a long hiatus with work and what-not. I just went whole hog... Warthog that is. It's all in the sig below now. I bought this PC custom made at Digital Storm back in November of 2015, still kicks ass. Highly recommended by the way, from a guy who always built his own previously. They can be pretty expensive once you start adding additional features, etc., but the build quality is excellent and their guys know what they are about, great service.

Just ordered BOM on sale, hope to see all of you at some point once I reintroduce myself to IL2 again.

Makes sense with your system.

I see you didn't opt for a G-Sync monitor? You run it in fast sync?

I didn't want to pay the extra £100+ for G-Sync and I set the fps in the graphics options to 144fps and that works fine for me :)

The main things I wanted in my monitor was 27" screen, IPS, 144Hz, and I was not going to go back to a NT panel, so I could have G-sync.
