migmadmarine Posted October 14, 2017 Posted October 14, 2017 I replaced my old track IR 5 with a new one recently, and while the old one worked perfectly till it failed on me, this new one I've had a lot of trouble with reflections from my glasses (which I have to wear, can't simply take them off) spoofing the sensor. I've tried setting the light filter threshold way up, but that has not fully solved the issue. I've noticed the reflectors on my hat sensor are getting dull, wonder if replacing them with shiny tape might improve things. Any other suggestions?
TG-55Panthercules Posted October 14, 2017 Posted October 14, 2017 Get a pro clip (either TIR's own or an alternate like the Declan clip) - that way, the TIR camera is reading the lights directly from the clip, rather than beaming lights at reflectors, so your glasses shouldn't present any sort of problem (mine never have with the clip setup I've been using for years).
migmadmarine Posted October 14, 2017 Author Posted October 14, 2017 Maybe, but I much prefer not to wear headphones most of the time, which is an issue for that.

Well, I'm sure with a little ingenuity (and maybe a sewing kit or duct tape) you could figure out a way to fasten the clip to a ball cap or similar hat. I did that with my original home-built TIR3 single LED rig (before the 3DoF thing came along) - haven't needed to try that since then because I have to wear headphones all the time I'm flying to keep the spouse neutralized, but there's no reason it shouldn't work. (If the power wires are the issue, you can always mount some batteries on the hat as well - that's what I did with my original home-built single-LED hat).

Me too, and i bought headlamp, removed the lamp and with piece of velcro tape attached the clip to the headstrap. Cost me around 15€ http://i.imgur.com/jEqCGnc.jpg
migmadmarine Posted October 15, 2017 Author Posted October 15, 2017 What sorts of bulb does the clip use?
TG-55Panthercules Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 What sorts of bulb does the clip use? Little red LEDs, like the kind you used to be able to get at Radio Shack (where I got the one for my early home-built hat). Now, I guess you'd have to find them online somewhere if you wanted to try to build one from scratch (but again, mounting a clip on a hat/headband thing would seem to be a lot easier).
