Instant Deaths

So I was playing on Wing of Liberty last night over a Kuban map flying Bf109 G 2's and a Bf110G and i was instantly killed 3 times back to back.I have been instantly killed before but not back to back. And i'm not saying the Pilots that killed me weren't skilled, Heck i know they were more skilled then me, so respect :) But i've never had this happen like this before. First time flying 500m below chasing a Pe-2 no other aircraft around, second time flying 110 had dropped my bomb load on target and Russian fighter got on my tail killed my pilot and exploded my aircraft wing off and third chasing a Russian fighter had a fighter on my tail and no warning just instant death. There was no warning missed shots whistling past my canopy, no bullet impacts sounds into my aircraft and then my death. Just BAM dead 3 times ! I've never shot down someone this quickly before. Its like some sort of God Mode . Anyone else experienced this before?? And I really don't mean to be whiny here.

Did you record at any of these occasions? It does happen, for me quite often when In an I-16. And like many others I remove the rear head armor when in a 109.

This honestly is luck of the draw. I have gone weeks without getting insta killed then I will have 5 on the same day. Nothing but bad luck IMO

Had this happen twice for me on WOL last night but assumed I was taken out by a skilful pilot which was more likely the case. There are some really talented peeps out there!

So I was playing on Wing of Liberty last night over a Kuban map

Starting a sentence with 'so' is ludicrous. Where's the preceding part of the sentence that justifies it? For example:

'I had some free time so I was playing on Wing of Liberty last night over a Kuban map ...'

This might seem pedantic and trivial or even rude (apologies if so) but the recent plague of first word so usage is inexplicable and very very irritating. It was bad enough when it was just a verbal nuisance but people are now WRITING it as well!

No, unfortunately I was not recording but i really wish i was.

I believed it was bad luck on my part after the first two deaths but after my third on my third flight I'm not too sure.

I agree with you. The pilots we're absolutely skilled and i have no problem with them getting on my 6 and taking me out. Its the no warning that Im getting hit and instant pilot death three times in a row I cant with out a better explanation on how . I can live with a instant death here or there.

Gotta hate talented enemy pilots. :(

Head position plays an important role. If you head is besides the armored head rest for example you are way more likely to get killed. I first discovered this when fighting in a Mig and looking back got me killed instantly with a small 7 mm round.

In MP it could also be a lag issue or that you were a rather steady target and the enemy pilot aiming for the cockpit. (most just aim for the general airplane)

Can it actually be confirmed that head position matters? I have wondered if I should be ducking down or not lol

I have not run empirical tests but when I did duck down I almost never got killed. (only remember once in  a peshka) While when I was looking back into the enemys guns I was killed a lot.

I don't think the camera (head) position counts, for example in the I-16 you can lean so far that you are able to fire the flare gun at the position where the pilot's head normally is... the result is that you can kill yourself doing this xD

Well it would at least be think able that it factors both. woild be interesting to do that with a flaregun in MP to another player that stuck out his head.

interesting. happened to me couple times in 110;  no gunner warnings as well. thought must been a bug and exceptional skills of the other pilot.....the thing is tho, how likely is it that my gunner would not see the approaching EA?

not sure how well its modeled, eg would my gunner detect EA in cold 6? and how do u hit the pilot in the head from cold 6 ?

So, what if English isn’t his first language?

Hand with flare gun can be unrealistically displaced (like you would be sending out of cockpit) but for sure head position count. I can clearly remember that if you not duck and hold that position during Dolphin (Rise of Flight) crash resulting turn over (up side down) you would die (neck break). I used keys to hold in that position because you need to look up on screen and find button to press finish flight and when you look with TrackIR you change head position and died instantly :)
