BuzzU Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 A toss up for between the P-47 and P-51. I've been a fan of both of them since 1950. Cripes! How old is Buzz?
Rjel Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 It has to be the P-51D for me. It avoided sprouting all the bumps and warts so many WWII era fighters did during their development. A close second would be the Mc.202. I always imagine how much prettier it would've been with a P-51 style radiator housing under its belly instead of the square mess it was stuck with.

-=PHX=-SuperEtendard Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 Looking sexy and outrunning allied planes since 1943  1
[TWB]80hd Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 What a ridiculously difficult question... but I have always thought this was a beautiful plane, no matter how slow it may have been... 3
A-E-Hartmann Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 I love the Bf109G / K, but the ultimate for me is the Fw190D - 9. 7
THERION Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 This one is nice... and of course all Yak and La... Cheerio
szelljr Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 (edited) & many many skins for this lovely planes.....ahhh... Edited October 9, 2017 by szelljr
Gambit21 Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 Mosquito...undisputed world champion. Avspecs-de-Havilland-Mosquito-Ardmore-Airfield-Open-House-Saturday-9-29-12.jpg The Flying Heritage Collection near me has one now. I haven't seen it fly yet - next Summer. Zero for me.
Rolling_Thunder Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 <----- beaufighter. Brutal looking aircraft.
LLv24_Zami Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 109G and K models with Erla haube. Those things look like they mean business.
Ribbon Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 (edited) Yak-3 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yakovlev_Yak-3 [/url] Edited October 10, 2017 by EAF_Ribbon
ATA_Vasilij Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 I love all Russian planes, From I-16 through Lagg's and La's to IL-2 (which is pretty nice) But favourite will be probably Mig-3.
Freycinet Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 I agree with the Spittie, Mosquito, MiG-3 being the most beautiful, but let me just throw in another spectacular-looking plane... https://ixquick-proxy.com/do/spg/show_picture.pl?l=english&rais=1&oiu=https%3A%2F%2Fs-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com%2Foriginals%2F5e%2Fdf%2F8f%2F5edf8f78f542d138b42223d7ae0f56e0.jpg&sp=191bc8ffd6599aa295e72f9f54980e65
OrLoK Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 Gotta be the Spit for me (for ww2) but like some others, I like the oddities and unusual planes out there. Just like me, they're not sexy but cool
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 Single Fw190 D-13. Twin; tough call. Either P-38 or Mosquito PR in blue scheme. On the phone, will update with photos later.
Retnek Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 Ju-88 without the bath-tub, like the G-6 fighter: or the S-3 bomber: 4
von-Luck Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 (edited) Mhmm she barely counts but . . . F7F is a beauty. Edited October 10, 2017 by von-Luck 3
Adj Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 (edited) All of these aircraft are very good. But for me its the FW 190D Edited October 11, 2017 by Adj
Herne Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 So many beauties in this thread !!Speaking as a brit though, there can be only one
pilotpierre Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 No contest, Brewster Buffalo wins hands down, squat, fat, ugly but at the same time somewhat cute.
AndyJWest Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 There are far too many aesthetically pleasing WW2 aircraft to pick a single winner, but I will nominate one that doesn't seem to have been discussed so far: the Pe-2. I'd rank it up there with the Mosquito and P-38 as one of the best-looking twins. No photo, as we all know what it looks like,,, 1
Freycinet Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 In love with the jug: Aren't we all in love with some jugs. I especially like the bubble canopy variant.
mazex Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 I am a bit soft about powerful twin engined CAS aircraft like the A-26... Not that much used in WWII but could be used in later expansions all the way to Vietnam 2
Rjel Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 Hmm, I'm starting to think of the C47 now... Nah,... still B17G,... but,... the C47 is such a nice looking thing. Considering how closely in time both the DC-3 and Ju-52 were designed and first flown, its obvious how much more modern the DC-3 looks in comparison. They look to be from different eras. Then again, maybe they were based on how fast aviation technology advanced in the 1930s.
VesseL Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 (edited) Brewster Buffalo, 109 G,K, Yak3, And LA-5. Many more also. 190 D-9 the most vicious looking bird, which i really would like to fly in this sim some day. Edited October 11, 2017 by VesseL 1
Archie Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 Don't know why, but I have always loved the looks of the Do17. 2
Cpt_Cool Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 There are too many good choices to say it's my favorite, but I've always been partial to the P 51B. I like the razorback. 1
