6./ZG26_Klaus_Mann Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 Look another La-5 was under testing The La-5 M-71 (Shvetsov M-71 Engine @ 2,200hp (1,641 kW) ) was flight tested by G Mischenko from late April to early June 1943. The aircraft was extensively tested in the autumn of 1943. In a game there are no problems with unavailability of M-71 engines in sufficient numbers and to upset the already organised process to put the plane into production. History repeats with the La-5FN again to receive the M-71 Engine same as the old La-5 received the M-82F Engine. ---> The La-5 overtakes hostile fighters, albeit slowly, gets on their tails during banked turns, and in a vertical air combat always turns to get above the enemy'. Well, if we gget a One-Of La-5 from mid 43, I think we should get our early 1943 He-280. Since we don't have the same Problems it encountered it also wouldn't be a Problem.

Way too late in the war to actually be egaging, everyone knew that it was the end game and that they were just playing out their roles waiting for the end. Plus, as a flight sim for it to be realistic, it would be a completely one-sides affair. I'd much rather see a summer-fall 1944 scenario centered around Bagration or the Baltic states. It would be an actual battle with real stakes and a pretty awesome plane set: Yak-3 P-39Q Arrow-metal-winged IL-2 Tu-2S Bf 109G14 Fw 190A8 Me 410 Ju 188 Collector planes premium: La-7 Fw 190D9 Extra collector's planes after launch: Yak-9U Me 262 The collector's planes pushing the timeframe a little further in time towards the end of '44. 1

Did the Devs not said "the month of surprises" and "So, here goes the first one - we're making a new Collectors Plane". The first one was the G-6 the second was the La-5FN and the third one will be the He-280, for sure. BTW here stands plain and simple the La-5 from 1943 had the M-71 Engine. JtD Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 The M-71 adoption was just a prototype, tested in 1943. The engine wasn't put into serial production, and therefore it wasn't available for serially produced aircraft.

I've spent the last two times flying just the La-5 and I'm really having a great time with it these days. I found it hard to like before but it seems to be quite fun now (maybe its just me or the FM update) but its really quite good and a good looking plane too. After spending most of your time with the sleek inlines its kind of nice to have a beefy radial engine up there. Not sure what that's saying but there it is! Still very much excited about the La-5FN. I'm guessing that we won't be able to fly until sometime after the new year seeing as there are three aircraft still in the pipeline for Kuban and the Bf109G-6 nor La-5FN will release before those three are through and released. January? February? Thoughts?

Its not just an improved La-5FN but a rework of a lot of different pieces to make it even higher performing on basically the same engine. It'd be some work for the devs to be sure. IL-2: Battle of Berlin with La-7, Yak-3, Yak-9U vs Bf109K-4 and FW190D-9? Yes please :D Sorry... back to the La-5FN. just give me an Anton 9 for bug killing !
