=gRiJ=Roman- Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 Now that we have the New Water and it looks so amazingly realistic. Can the sea conditions change according to the weather? Can we have a variety of conditions ranging from calm seas to very rough seas? Is this implemented or will it be?
Finkeren Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 Yes, the conditions absolutely change. You can see this for yourself in QMB: Remove any wind and turbulence and you'll have very calm seas with some minor waves but no whitecaps. Set it to 12 m/s and high turbulence and you get waves many meters high which will wash over the decks of ships and have lots of whitecaps - though I still think there are too few whitecaps in very rough seas. If you have trouble seeing it from your aircraft go into spectator mode and look at the ships. Last night I tried hunting E-boote with the IL-2 under the worst possible weather conditions. It was next to impossible, not only did my sight jump all over the place due to the turbulence and the bullets drift significantly due to wind, but my target was bopping up and down on the waves making it very hard to line up a shot.
scram77 Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 Tried a quick mission in the builder that I saw suggested somewhere else on here. Placed a plane far out to sea on Kuban, set the weather to bad, overcast with wind and turbulence and try get back to land. Was a great feeling flying over the hoppy waves being buffeted about in my P-40 with low fuel! The waves looked great and would be very difficult to spot small ships. Very much looking forward to Midway!! 1
xvii-Dietrich Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 We are often used to flying in pristine conditions (esp. on the online servers). Making things a bit grim, with turbulence, lower-visibility and high-speed winds and the combat takes a major step-up in difficulty. Now, put that out over the open sea and you get a real challenge. Generally the sea-modelling in BoX has continued in the great tradition of Rise of Flight. Even without Midway, there is a huge potential in the large area of the Black Sea available on the Kuban map. There is some really good information about sea-conditions in 2./JG51_Hobo's post on flying seaplanes: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/30432-finer-points-flying-seaplanes/
Sandinourcoffee6 Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 The wind speed goes up to 12,can this be made to be higher?maybe some edit somewhere
migmadmarine Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 The wind speed goes up to 12,can this be made to be higher?maybe some edit somewhere I believe that this is the highest speed in the quick mission builder, but can be set higher in the full editor.
SCG_motoadve Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 One thing is for sure, landing in windy conditions are very easy in this sim, you can have the strongest tailwind , crosswind including the most intense turbulence and it is easy, Im a real pilot and definitely its not that easy, specially with a tailwheel airplane. But its ok I rather the developer focus on good game play, MP and single player and better AI.
