Improved AI for landings

Anyone know if there are plans to improve the AI for landings? In its current state, the AI struggles to land in sequence after a mission. Playing the "The Butcher" campaign right now and the flight lead landed successfully after the mission but my other AI wing mates (#2 and #3) wouldn't land. Maybe the rule is: If flight lead is AI controlled, flight lead lands first, then player is expected to land before any other AI-controlled planes.

It's hard coded into the AI.

I've brought it up with the devs several times, including recently.

 

There are several coastal bases on the Kuban map that the AI cannot land at due to their current landing routine.

I never had any issues with AI landing in the Butcher campaign. It worked in all missions as it should. If you were flying it recently, it may have to do with the new FM after the last patch.

It's each aircraft circling first before landing that I'm talking about - but AI flight behavior in general is wonky right now.

In the past I had some success in getting home then ordering my wingmen to RTB - that used to push them to enter the landing pattern for themselves rather than just follow me around and I could just fly around watching them and enjoying myself. Not sure if that's still a way around it as I haven't tried in ages.

I imagine they will have to take a look at the AI pretty closely in the coming year when they need to have them landing on carriers.  A more precise and less leisurely landing sequence will be necessary.

I'm not a fan of the AI landings, they take too long and are very picky with anything that might interfere.

You can land without waiting for anyone else in The Butcher and move on to the next mission if the AI is being silly..
