kilen Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 (edited) hi, i started russian fighters training since 10days approx (germans previously) and i only match now we cant play Yak1B in campaign... a bit dissapointed, i expected to have, not in BoM, but in BoS we could as they were built in spring 42 and after until ~mid44... so, could it be possible to have or do something to extend playtime with in solo ? i expect further career mode will give us opportunity to play with also, outside simple missions, but as i am not sure if usual campaigns will dissapear or coexist with new career mode, i would like some scenarized missions involving Yak1B (best to get advanced training with, do simple missions only is too basic, learning there is only for basic control of each planes, no more) in BoS or BoK classic campaigns (though, i guess without being totally sure, Yak1B never fought around Caucasus if i remember well...? only yak7B did... even just one of both would be already great, and BoS seems the best, etc). but if new career mode is supposed to completly replace present classic campaigns, then i suppose we will be able to play Yak1B without limitation like others by career mode... (?) have u some infos/confirmations about that ? thx cya ++ Edited October 4, 2017 by kilen

=WH=PangolinWranglin Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 The Yak1b is much more a BoK aircraft than BoS. It can only be flown by the player to keep its numbers down in BoS campaigns from what I understand. When the new career drops in December we will probably have it for use in BoK.
kilen Posted October 4, 2017 Author Posted October 4, 2017 (edited) I would imagine it would be this. yep, me too. but then i feel a bit worry about all time spent to already increase xp & level on IL2 server. i dont see how devs could mix basic xp & server performance and the concept of solo Career... but i imagined that first too (anyway, classic campaigns have few intrest imo, except about advanced training with each planes... its not a drama if they completly dissapear) though personal xp was pretty usefull to know better where each of us are in practicing IL2, etc. restart all at 0xp with new BoK & career mode seems me a bit "extreme". ^^ idk, lets hope someone can tell us already... Finkeren Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 The Yak-1B we have is purely a BoK aircraft. The series 127 was a pretty refined aircraft compared to the early Yak-1Bs combat tested during the late Stalingrad campaign. 2

(no more after BoK release, i mean, need to wait further major update) Edited October 4, 2017 by kilen
Finkeren Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Yes, the Yak-1b will be in the BoK career, and the Yak-7B will be in both BoK and BoS, same for the Yak-1 s.69. Basically all aircraft that fit the timeline of a given battle will be in that battle in career mode. 1

OrLoK Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Id like to be able to choose any plane from any side in a campaign, accurate or not, but the default plane to be accurate for the timeline/side. Ymmv!

Ymmv! Problem is, that when you create a pilot for the career, you do not assign him (or her - pretty plz devs ) to fly a specific aircraft, instead you assign him to a specific unit, which will be flying the aircraft types that it did historically and transition from one aircraft to another at historically appropriate dates. Would be nice to have those same kind of info for all other planes too... But know that I think about it... What about the unlocks? How they will be used in the campaing by both the player and the AI squadrons?

Yes, I can understand that but im just a big believer in leaving the choice up to the end user. I'll be happy with whatever the devs give us!

Curious that the Yak-7B has a fairly short period of use. It fell out of service after June 16?
1CGS BlackSix Posted October 5, 2017 1CGS Posted October 5, 2017 Curious that the Yak-7B has a fairly short period of use. It fell out of service after June 16? Only 3 regiments had the Yak-7Bs: 15th, 43th and 274th IAP from 278th IAD (278th Fighter Aviation Division) of 3rd IAK (3rd Fighter Aviation Corps). These regiments lost almost all their planes and was withdrawn from combat in the second half of June to rest and re-equip. Initially, we planned to show only the main period of the Kuban battle from April 17 to June 7 and Yak-7B perfectly fitted into this period of time. 1
Brano Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 Some details about re-equipment after Kuban battle. 43IAP received mix of Yak-1 and Yak-9T type. At the end of war they used Yak-9U. Received Yak-3 only post war. 15.IAP received Yak-1 and som Yak-9T for the Belgorod-Charkov operation in august 1943 and in august 44 got new Yak-3s. 274.IAP has been reequipped with mix of Yak-1 and Yak-9. Yak-1 being used till late summer 1944. in dec 44 they got Yak-3. 1

I knew there was some interesting background to this. Just imagine losing all combat capable aircraft in just two months time. Some intense fighting.
