Wanganui_Wildcat Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 I am sure it comes as no surprise that I love the P-40, she is a bit on the slow side and has a reasonably temperamental engine but I love her all the same. She does have a pretty bad reputation in BOX but she has gotten a heck of a lot better since the flight model update. So for the month of September I decided that on the WIngs of Liberty Server I would fly nothing but the P-40. Results are in the video, for anyone wanted to check below is the link to the stats page, have a look after the video though as it does contain spoilers. Enjoy. http://il2stat.aviaskins.com:8008/en/... Music by Lynyrd Skynyrd, Free bird 7
19//Moach Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 very nice! I loved that scene where you look behind you and there's a Yak that looks about to do some friendly fire... then you look again and there's an FW between him and you! great choice of music too. our P40 is one bird that sure has changed
A_radek Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Great video! With your p-40 experience, what loadout is your preffered one?
Wanganui_Wildcat Posted October 4, 2017 Author Posted October 4, 2017 Oh yea... those 50 cals are very potent. Yeah, very good for relieving 109's of theirs wings and or tails! very nice! I loved that scene where you look behind you and there's a Yak that looks about to do some friendly fire... then you look again and there's an FW between him and you! great choice of music too. our P40 is one bird that sure has changed Thanks mate! yeah I knew he was back there somewhere, I was a little confused to only see the yak at first so had to look harder! Great video! With your p-40 experience, what loadout is your preffered one? Cheers! I take somewhere between 30 to 50% of fuel depending on how far I'm planning on flying, 30% gives you around half an hour which is often more than enough for WOL. As for weapons, I prefer the 6 guns with the extra ammo, you often only get one pass with the p-40 so more guns means its easier to make your shots count.
1./JG42flesch Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 (edited) next Vidio we can see what a Fragile Bullshit Damage Modell ( 70% Glaswing broken) from Blue Planes and the OP Ammo from Red Edited October 4, 2017 by 1./JG42flesch 1
Wanganui_Wildcat Posted October 5, 2017 Author Posted October 5, 2017 next Vidio we can see what a Fragile Bullshit Damage Modell ( 70% Glaswing broken) from Blue Planes and the OP Ammo from Red Seriously? I get so sick of people claiming this everytime I put up a video! The p-40 has six .50 cal guns, firing at 850 rounds per minute, that is just over 14 rounds per second for each gun, so 85 rounds per second for all six. The 109's wings and tail section is made of light weight steel. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realise that much lead hitting them is going to cause serious structural damage which means they will probably break, even more so if they are under 'g' load when hit! I think my next video will have to be of 109's taking wings off Russians! 3
Thad Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 Salutations, I fired 50 caliber machine guns while I was in the Marine Corp. Believe me... one is a very potent weapon. Six.... ouch.
BlznSaddles Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 I love the P40 as well. It obviously has some power issues but I do find it withstands pretty reasonable damage (as it should), and I also love the 50's. I always use all 6 guns for the "extra" firepower. It's not too bad at boom n' zoom, it can turn pretty decently at slow speeds as well so you can get into turning fights occasionally with certain planes and not be at a disadvantage.
Lusekofte Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 Always admired your taste of music, and I appreciate the fact you show your mistakes and own demise. The P 40 has become the plane I hoped we would get, now I can fly it at least. I like your videos, they are entertaining and professionally made, and you marksmanship is desirable , Many thanks for sharing

Yeah I find it can't keep energy as well in the turns though so you have like 2 maybe 3 passes/circles and then you are in trouble. It dives beautifully as well, can match a 109 in a dive! I really enjoy making the videos so its good to hear that people like them so much! Sweet Vid! Thanks!
56RAF_Roblex Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 Nice video but I think your kill at 6:40 was a bit unsporting. You had already removed his wing and then you gave him a second burst the length of the fuselage to make sure he did not get out alive :-) (Yes I was joking)
Wanganui_Wildcat Posted October 10, 2017 Author Posted October 10, 2017 (edited) 1st class entertainment! Thanks bro! Thanks mate! Nice video but I think your kill at 6:40 was a bit unsporting. You had already removed his wing and then you gave him a second burst the length of the fuselage to make sure he did not get out alive :-) (Yes I was joking)Haha in all honesty I did actually feel a little bad after doing that but when something goes right through your gunsight like that the temptation to pull the trigger is overwelming! Glad you liked the video :-) Edited October 10, 2017 by =WFPK=Wanganui_Wildcat
