Sokol1 Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 (edited) http://flyhoneycomb.com/ TQ - http://flyhoneycomb.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/middle-artboard-image.png Certainly an option to the "meh QC" of Saitek or the "obsolete" (8 bits - 256 points resolution controller) CH yokes. Retnek Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 (edited) Wow, a new girl in town well, well, honey. My Saitek is old and shaky, you're showing up just in time. The design is a bit modern imho, but it's the inner values! Except some nice advertisements - anyone with facts about the parts build in? It should be possible to mix good plastics design with some better quality electronics for 199 $. But Saitek did it for that money, too, with lower grade electronics and some serious design flaws. Saitek yoke is good enough to land a bomber. But of nearly no use if you're in a dogfight. I'll wait for some reviews by people who feel the thrustmaster is a minimum. Lusekofte Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 (edited) I have followed this product , and to me it was suppose to compete with Saitek and CH for best available technology . I think you can rest assure this is better than Saitek , but I am not sure about smoothness and other stuff. I had a Saitek Cessna, 90 degree turn both ways , and I think it did well. This is obviously made for X plane and FSX , so many of the features and buttons on the panel might not work, But I am sure those in the yoke does Edited October 2, 2017 by 216th_LuseKofte
xvii-Dietrich Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 The pair might make for a nice Ju-52 setup. I wonder how easy it would be to change the lever-knobs on the quadrant to make it 3+3, rather than 2+2+2. That large trim wheel would be perfect for the stabiliser. There's not a lot of information out there yet. Frogglesim comments on them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJIvFA9yxlQ&feature=youtu.be&t=9s -- yoke (pre-release) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7Q535cqxy0&feature=youtu.be&t=8s -- throttle quadran But what I want is one of those "unboxing videos" where you get to see the configurations and how it fits together or some sort of serious review. Currently, I'm on a frankenstick plus CH-quadrant, which are okay, but I'm very much on the lookout for something... especially a yoke. PS: I saw the OP and started typing immediately, but all along thinking: I bet Retnek and LuseKofte are doing the same. Sure enough... 1
Lusekofte Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 My problem with this is the short level of movement in push pull axis, while the yoke turn 180 degree in total . If the pull axis is bigger than the push it will be good also.
kestrel79 Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 Wow really digging that throttle quad. Could replace my CH one which spikes a lot. Curious to see how it mounts and where I could place it in my Obutto.
Retnek Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 (edited) ... I'm very much on the lookout for something... especially a yoke. PS: I saw the OP and started typing immediately, but all along thinking: I bet Retnek and LuseKofte are doing the same. Sure enough... My recent product list above the CH- or Saitek-level - it's expensive to fly the heavies with some style: GoFlight offers 2 yokes for 550 and 750 $ https://goflightinc.com/store/ The Yoko yoke for 820 $ https://www.virtual-fly.com/en/product/controls/yoko Both yokes got good reviews, but mainly for the mechanics. Looking at the reviews / videos they don't include today's electronics standards. For that money I expect recent electronics using touchless sensors f.e. I forgot something in the 1st edition of this note, that's PFC with quite a few yokes - but quite a price, too, beginning with 995 $: https://flypfc.com/product-category/yokes/ But they have an attractive column yoke for 1395 and seem to use recent electronics. There's the ACE-Boeing-yokes for 1350 $, too: http://www.737yoke.com/prod_list.php Attractive, because the yoke is placed on a long stand, too, moving like it did in most WW2-bombers. But 1350 $, come on! Force feed back starting with Brunners 1890 € yoke: https://www.brunner-innovation.swiss/produkt-uebersicht/ The other magnetic-forces FFB for 2600 € is: https://vs4.irisdynamics.com/dragonflyvr-flight-yoke/ Force feed back certainly adds a dimension to the sim, but the price! Some folk wrote Il2-BoX shows a good implementation of FFB. I tried the MS-Sidewinder with the sims around the year 2000, in short: that constant rattle-rattle-shaky-shaky drove me crazy. I have very limited experience with planes controls in flight - FFB like it was done 15 y ago had not much to do with the feel of real flight controls. Maybe FFB improved and it's worth the invest today? I learned a lot about FFB-details here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWr3eoPuSqM BTW - for all those looking for a FFB-stick this might be interesting: https://vs4.irisdynamics.com/magnetic-force-feedback-joysticks/ My conclusions at the moment: compared to the quality mechanics and electronics I'll get with today's sticks from VKB or Virpil those yokes are much too expensive. xvii-Dietrich Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 Thanks for the summary, Retnek and for going to the effort to putting in all those links. Much appreciated!
