Let's talk about the G6

For the Bf109 experts I have two questions. 1) Does the early G-6 model have the same engine setup as the G-4 or are there any minor differences? 2) Someone said it had more armor or some other kinds of protection. What were these and where on the airframe?

1. The exact same engine.

2. The exact same Armor Options. 

 

It may get a Radio Beacon Receiver. 

Late La-5F and FN could be made 1 Aircraft with only Engine Mod as difference.

Other than that to me it is only a 109 with two wart´s on the nose obstructing your view even more

Yep, but they could basically make two Aircraft from one Mold.

Yeah, the G-6 is basically a Cover for an enormous Clusterfuck of Engine Models, Landing Gear Options, Tails, Canopies, Armor, MW50, 30 or GM-1, Cowlings and so on.

Well, it's a quick and easy Mod to do. 

 

I would like to see the existing Aircraft Fleshed out a bit more. More Armament Options for Bombers for example, in terms of Offensive as well as Defensive.

Especially German Bombers are missing out on so many Goodies. Containers for SD-2 Bombs, Ju-88 on MG151 and MG81Z Behälter, He-111 as well on the Train Buster Packs.

Ju-52, Ju-88 and 111H-16 are missing out on Defensive Gun Alternatives. 

 

More Engine Options would be nice as well. Especially Bf109E and Bf110E.

The difference is small enough, that both could easily be incorporated into the same 3D model and skin options - it's a much smaller difference than there is between the Pe-2 series 87 and 110 which is one aircraft.

 

However, we are talking about two different aircraft engines with different limits and properties, which will complicate the design process, since they will perform quite differently.

 

Also, I think there are difference such as ammo load being larger for the La-5FN etc.

 

I hope they can manage to fit both into one model, because it will greatly enhance the usefulness of the model in BoK, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm just glad we get the FN model which has always been one of my absolute favourite WW2 aircraft.

The MG131 and MG151/20 combo will be deadly. Even if we did get the Mk108 I'd still take the MG151/20 since the velocities are so similar so the lead on deflection shots is perfect. 

 

If they make this a Bf109-G6/E (Early) and some day they go to the West or go back to the East the 109-G6/L (Late) can be in the regular planeset for 1944.

Same here. Although I consider the Po-2 more as a Featherweight.

I am not too fancy about 109, but I do understand that well 109 and 190´s have to be upgraded . Wish for a Alternative universe where a Heinkel type of fighter actually was allowed to evolve , just so there where more German fighters types. 

I am glad so many like the 109 so much that they do not bother. To me the two warts on its nose make it look cool, I kind of like such addition on a plane aerodynamics and beauty is simply no manly enough

I'll definitely buy the G-6. I'll fly any variant of that fighter good or not quite as good.

 

I did a poll on the Facebook community group for IL-2 asking what people were excited about and allowing multiple options to be voted for per person. We had a tie for the Bf109G-6 and P-39L-1 as most anticipated followed by the A-20B, La-5FN and Yak-7B. I was curious if lots of people were interested in a G-6 and it turns out that in my small sample case... yes they are.

I like the idea of having an early G6 now and a late when we come back to europe, too. However, I am a big boy, too, and of course I would like to have some fun with the MK108 in some QMB missions from time to time, as well.

I think they will eventually. It won't be the big four engined bomber war that some folks want but a tactical scenario over Normandy or in the Ardennes. This series could do that incredibly well.

Not going to disagree with you on that, I just really hope that the second most numerous lend lease aircraft (the Hurricane) with nearly 3000 flying on the eastern front will one day be realised in this sim.
