HagarTheHorrible Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 (edited) Herr Hitler had woken up one morning and said to himself "Bugger it, I'm fed up with this stupid little mustache, I think I"ll shave it off " ? Would world history have been different ? P.S. Feel free to post pics of Mr Hitler with alternative top lip furniture. In fact, there's got to be a "Bunker outtake" of everyone standing in Hitler's Bunker trying not to mention the obvious, in a very awkward, uncomfortable way. HagarTheHorrible Posted September 26, 2017 Author Posted September 26, 2017 WTF We have an image, a very strong image, Hitler's identity is very much tied up to his mustache, it's very difficult to imagine him, at the height of his powers, without it.. If he woke up one morning and shaved it off what would the cartoonists and satirists latch on too ? I wonder if his image might even have survived as it has if he didn't have that rather ridiculous toothbruse mustache, indeed would Stalin's image have been anywhere as strong if he had decided that big bushy mustaches were so much yesterday's thing ? World leaders have come and gone, forgotten and neglected, but the mustaches remain. Has any significant world leader ever done a radical makeover of their image at the height of their powers, because they fancied a bit of a change ?
Feathered_IV Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 Like a big handlebar moustache perhaps? Something Stalin could hang onto with both hands?
Finkeren Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 If I were to name a style for Hitler to force into eternal banishment, it'd be something like what George Michael sported in the '90s: In my people's tongue this is literally called a "mouth-c*nt".
Uufflakke Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 His famous moustache is actually a shaven version. His longer 1914 moustache had to be trimmed to fit in the respitor mask. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/1550768/Hitler-was-ordered-to-trim-his-moustache.html
Danziger Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 Hitler had a terrible moustache. Even if he wasn't a horrible person the moustache would still go down in history as one of the most terrible. Now Stalin may not have been the most kind and gentle man either but his moustache is probably the most manly type of moustache any man could hope to grow.
Uufflakke Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 (edited) Hitler had a terrible moustache. What's wrong with that kinda moustache?!? Edited September 26, 2017 by Uufflakke
Rjel Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 I've always imagined Hitler, like Chaplin and Oliver Hardy before him, started out with a nicer looking moustache. They just couldn't trim them properly. Those we see are the results.
Finkeren Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 I always thought Chaplin wore that 'stache much better than Adolf - sweet irony that a jew had a better Hitlerstache than Hitler. Though I'm not advocating that anyone try to "reclaim" it (same as I don't like the attempts at reclaiming the swastika) it is a very practical and neat moustache that probably looked super-slick and modern to people in the 1920s. 1
THERION Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 (edited) This kind of moustache was very common in the first half of the 20th century - it wasn't invented by Chaplin or Hitler. But after WW II lots of men avoided this kind of moustache, so the name Adolf too, which was very common not only in Germany / Austria but also in Switzerland. To resume your question - evil has different faces. It doesn't mean if someone looks a bit bad, that he is. On the other side there were very charming good looking people who were actually brutal serial killers. Another question concerning Adolf Hitler would perhaps be: "What if the academy of art in Vienna would have given him a chance to study art? Would he have had another curriculum vitae?" I saw some picture art he did in his early life - to be honest they weren't bad at all! There is always a way of improvement in techniques, colouring and conception of a picture. But he was not without talent. So perhaps history would have to be rewritten, but the conflicts and tensions of that time (century) were still here - the shit was already boiling at that time as one might say. Feathered_IV Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 I always assumed Hitler had a big embarrassing mole hidden under there. 1
sniperton Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 Another question concerning Adolf Hitler would perhaps be: "What if the academy of art in Vienna would have given him a chance to study art? Would he have had another curriculum vitae?" Strange as it is, but the young Adolf was too shy to show up when he was recommended to an influential academy professor to become his student. He was not declined, he resigned voluntarily. He did not trust his abilities as a painter. (Brigitte Hamann: Hitlers Wien. Die Lehrjahre eines Diktators)
Rolling_Thunder Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 what if hitler had cured cancer in what way would the world be different now there would be no cancer but he'd still be a c*nt 1
Finkeren Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 what if hitler had cured cancer in what way would the world be different now The answer is: Don't think about it. Now, help me with these bodies. 2
BraveSirRobin Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 i think he was a good artist, whoever kept him from art school carry a great blame on his shoulders What makes you think he doesn't start WW2 and kill millions of Jews after getting into art school? So, no, whoever kept him out of art school does not carry the slightest bit of blame, unless he or she went on to command a death camp or panzer division.
Rolling_Thunder Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 whoever kept him from art school carry a great blame on his shoulders its easier to judge others Yeah and you judge more than most around here. You judge those without your unique view of the world and hold yourself higher, think of yourself as a visionary. You're just like the rest of the world except for the chemical imbalance that prevents you from seeing things how they realy are.
Feathered_IV Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 I'm sure it would have tickled Eva's... fancy.
Uufflakke Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 (edited) On the image to the right he looks more like a member of a semi-intellectual alternative rock band. If so he might have been succesful. Like he was in the thirties and fourties. Doing a tour through Europe for a couple of years in a row again, having fans everywhere and the grand final show in Berlin with lots of firework. Edited September 30, 2017 by Uufflakke
