HELP-My map location in VR???

Recommended Posts

Posted

When flying in VR I can see the map and the route to the waypoints but I cannot see my plane on the map

and consequently can't find my way around..

I assume I am not set up correctly and would appreciate some guidance on this issue.

Thanks, Jim

I've never tried to use any version of the map that shows where your plane is, so I'm not sure what may be happening here, but what method are you using to see your map while in VR, and are you flying MP or SP?

BTW - you don't really need to have the map display your position like a GPS device in order to find your way around - you might want to try navigating around by just looking at the map and comparing it to what you see out the cockpit (rivers, towns, large forested areas, all can clue you in as to where you are if you pay attention).

Default is I for icons if h for hud isn't working

I think it's H - press H to cycle through that. If that doesn't work, check your settings or multiplayer settings (which may have this GPS plane disabled).

It you choose normal settings you can see the mini map when the HUD is displayed. You can go into the hud settings and choose a couple of options of how big you want this map or turn it off.

You can then press I to see your plane on the mini hud map and the main large map. ( this is the only map you can see in expert settings)

Currently on Expert, you can display the compass from the hud but hopefully the devs will add the mini hud map as an option especially for the VR pilots who can't use a kneeboard or second monitor for the large map. I've asked.

If your using VR chances are that you are pressing H to eliminate the hud to get better fps, after that press I so your icon will show on the map. If you are in a expert server then your icon will not show up regardless. Just have to navigate by landmarks

Thanks everyone,

The "I" selection with the map has cleared my problem.
