Freycinet Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 The new album of super-accomplished graphic artist Romain Hugault is coming out October 18: Images from the album here, including fantastic drawings of Corsairs, Catalinas, Grumman ducks, etc... https://www.facebook.com/romainhugault/ I have all his albums and they are visual feasts for those who like the sexy curves of classic warbirds and... shapely women (!) See attached pics. 4
[CPT]Pike*HarryM Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 Getting a CFS2 vibe...(not a criticism), I was probably one of the few who actually liked the comic style artwork on that one. 2
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 You're not alone, I loved it too.
Rjel Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 Count me in too. I was just looking at the manual for the game last night. I miss those beautiful manuals we used to get.* *I know why we don't anymore. I still miss them.

Nibbio Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 Getting a CFS2 vibe...(not a criticism), I was probably one of the few who actually liked the comic style artwork on that one. Had a lot of fun modding the particle system of CFS2 at the time... lots of cool graphical effects could be devised with very little effort. As a consequence, I never really got to enjoy the game...
Pierre64 Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 What is that glorious floatplane?Grumman JF-2 "Duck" https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7ZIfgHFlR98&feature=youtu.be
Rolling_Thunder Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 I love this guys work. Im a big fan, his attention to detail is really impressive. I have a few of his works even though some have yet to be translated into English and most of us English speakers lack the skill, will, whatever to learn other languages. "Le grand duc" (the grand duke), set on the eastern front, is one of my favorites

StG77_Kondor Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 CFS2 for it's time was great. Massive upgrade from CFS1. Add me as another who loved the artwork. I still remember the day the IL-2 demo was released (lol demos remember those?) RIP CFS2. .
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 Few pleasures would beat downloading all the cool new demos and replaying them for a few hours to figure out if the game is worth buying. BF1942 even had a multiplayer demo that had an active population for years after its release.
Gambit21 Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 I miss the old demos. Best ever was Grand Prix Legends, followed by one of the best releases ever.

"Le grand duc" (the grand duke), set on the eastern front, is one of my favorites To be honest the stories themselves are rather so-so. Definitely not at the level of his superior artwork. The drawings are sumptuous. On my wall just behind me I have his poster from the 37th Ferté-Alais "Meeting aérien" which I attended...
Royal_Flight Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 CFS2 was brilliant. I got it back in 2000 and played it obsessively while growing up, and read the giant printed manual back-to-back more times than I can remember. I can still recall a lot of the stories and extra historical detail that was put into the manual. It's a real shame that flight sims don't come with that anymore. And I remember the first ever time I got a kill on a Zero with a Hellcat... closing head-on into a merge, a snap shot and hit him with a few rounds and he went up in flames. Can still picture it now. A major formative influence on me growing up.
Nibbio Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 I remember your mods (gun-smoke?), was wondering if was you, I thought it might be. Yeah, it was me. Gun smoke, and bow spray and oil slicks for ships, dust clouds for vehicles, the number of things one could do was amazing. I think even Oleg copied some effects in the original IL2 that came out a little later
