gabuzomeu Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 Hello, trying to learn the ME, and I just discovered that setting the skin of a Player plane in the mission editor is now working (ie you do not go back to default when launching in the game). BUT this works only for il243m, Yak-1 s129, Bf110G, Hs129, not Spitfire or Fw190A5 (I have not tested everything) If it sticks this is a great addition , and I hope this is extended to all planes.
Habu Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 It's from the first release of the mission editor that we can set any skin to any planes : Ai or player. It's not new. Be carrefull, if you set a skin you downloaded, only players who had the skin can view it. Another think to know, the name of the skin can be a problem if it's too long. it will be ok for players in game, but not for AI and players in the editor.
gabuzomeu Posted September 22, 2017 Author Posted September 22, 2017 Hello, thank you for your answer. Indeed , there is a problem with user skins, as whe,n they are present (whatever the name of the file), the Player plane will revert back to default skin. (whereas everything is fine for AI planes) JMposted a bug report about this: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/12263-quick-mission-campaign-and-single-missions/page-3?do=findComment&comment=513659 Merci It's from the first release of the mission editor that we can set any skin to any planes : Ai or player. unreasonable Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 Not only the skins revert when you use a custom skin, but the information about what weapon mods, mirrors etc is also lost - so you have to reset every time at start up.
Jade_Monkey Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 I had no problem with weapons but the skins definitely broke in the last patch. Only for the Player, the AI's skins show up fine.

Carefull, you can have a reset of the payload using mod if you set a too much payload which can't be load by the plane. Edit : I wasn't aware for the player skin. If i have time, i will run a test. Edit : I wasn't aware for the player skin. If i have time, i will run a test. I have just been putting the mirror on my Spitfires! The mirror mod is set to on in the ME for me and wingmen. If I start the mission by pressing start, then start, I am in a default skinned plane with no mirror. The wingmen are as per the ME setting. To get both mirror and skin I have to manually replace them in set-up every time I restart. Which can be many many times when the mission is being used as a film set. Nothing to do with the load-out. It is a bug.
Habu Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 Ok, i'll check the spitfire with your settings as soon as possible.
unreasonable Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 Ok, i'll check the spitfire with your settings as soon as possible. Error on my part - the mirrors are not showing on the AI Spitfires either - I check mod number two, add mirror, OK etc. Not there in the game - although the custom skins are. I had overlooked that - fortunately not a critical thing for me, as I am not doing close ups of the wingmen much, I doubt anyone will notice. Is this because the mirror is in the #2 slot?

No, it seems there is a bug with the mod for AI spitfire. Ok, here are the result of my test in multiplayer for the spitfire: 1- Custom skin and skin from the game work on AI. 2- Miror for player set in the editor is set in the gam too when you spawn. 3- Mirror can't be set on AI in the editor. If you set it, when you press ok, you can see that no mod is validated. 4- Engine mod can't be set on AI in the editor. If you set it, when you press ok, you can see that no mod is validated. 5- Custom skin set in the editor for player is not set in game. 6- Skin from the game set for player in the editor is set in the game. So, No mod can be assigned to the AI in the editor, and custom skin for player set in the editor is not visible in the game by default. Player has to select the skin by himself. I'm going to report these, after running the same test in solo. Edited September 23, 2017 by Habu 1
gabuzomeu Posted September 23, 2017 Author Posted September 23, 2017 Hello, Habu In SP, on my system from your list 1 - same 2/3/4: not tested 5 - same 6 - This works ONLY when there is no user skin in the corresponding folder. Otherwise reverts to default skin. No, it seems there is a bug with the mod for AI spitfire. Ok, here are the result of my test in multiplayer : 1- Custom skin and skin from the game work on AI. 2- Miror for player set in the editor is set in the gam too when you spawn. 3- Mirror can't be set on AI in the editor. Habu Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 (edited) Here are the result for the single mod for the spitfire. 1- Any mod can't be assigned to Player and AI Spitfire. 2- Custom skin set for the spitfire in the editor is not set in the game. 3- No problem with custom skin with AI spitfire 6 - This works ONLY when there is no user skin in the corresponding folder. Otherwise reverts to default skin. No, it works even if you have custom skins in your folder. It revert to the default skin if the player do not own the custom skin, which is normal. If it doesn't work, check the lenght of the name of the skin, and reduce it for test. I'm going to run the same tests with another plane. Edit : I tested with Il2 and Yak1 and it seem that skins set to player in the editor are not applied in single and multiplayer mod. Everything has been reported to the dev. 56RAF_klem Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 Thank you guys, I thought I was going mad. In a simple single player 'familiarisation' mission (couldn't be simpler) neither custom skin from my Spitfire skins folder loads nor the two mods of Merlin 45 and mirror. I have to load them by hand.
