Controls for HE 111

I'm very confused. I've been flying fighters and recently got a flight yolk to fly this bomber. However, I can't seem to get the controls figured out to assign them in settings. Is there a video or post somewhere that can tell me which assignments actually belong to the HE 111? I'd be very grateful. Thank you.

The controls are mostly the same except that the HE111 has a traditional trimmer instead of a stabilizer and it has a 4 stage oil cooler instead of dynamic one like most other planes.

You'll need to set those commands up yourself, otherwise, it's the same. And of course, "open bomb bay doors" can be mapped because it's a bomber.

I can't find the control to make prop pitch manual instead of automatic. Also, I can open and close the oil and water radiators, but what are the oil and water radiator shutters for? They're different from just "open and close radiator" commands

You can read everything you need to know about the operation of a plane in the specifications tab in the game, but let me help you out with the He 111 (H6 version):

Controls:

Throttle

RPM governor (constant speed prop)

Mixture is automatic (no control needed)

Supercharger gear change is automatic (no control needed)

Oil radiator is manual (5 incremental steps)

Water radiator is manual

Hydraulic flaps can be set to any angle

No tail lock (no control needed)

Individual toe brakes

Trim tabs on all control surfaces

Bomb bay doors open/close

Engine limits:

Nominal (unlimited time): 2250 RPM, 1.15 ata

Climb power (up to 30 minutes): 2400 RPM, 1.25 ata

Take-off power (up to 1 minute): 2600 RPM, 1.42 ata

In addition to this you'll need controls for bomb release, bomb release mode, level autopilot (if you use that) and everything concerning operation of bomb sight and gunner positions - same as on any other bomber.

Also: I'm quite curious as to how you control a plane with a yolk ;)

The rpm control on the He 111 is always manual, and it doesn't control pitch directly, since it's a constant speed prop.

LOL....I don't know yet. I haven't even gotten the bomber off the ground yet...LOL! Thank you so much for the info. But isn't there a way to make those things you mentioned as automatic change to manual? Or was it automatic in the real planes?

Everything is as it was historically. In general on German engines, mixture control was automatic, as was the supercharger gear (which actually leads to some problems for the Fw 190 at medium altitude)

What about the shutters?

Oil radiator has 5 different positions, and I think that means, that you can't map them to a slider - same as with the Bf 110 radiators.

The water radiator can be set to any position and can be mapped to a slider/axis. Same as on most planes.

quite easily in fact. I have a CH Pro yoke, multi quad throttles, pedals and Track IR. Works like a charm.

Flying fighters with a yoke (like the P38)...now THAT takes practice.

I know. I was just being a dick, because he wrote "yolk" instead of "yoke" ;)

Puns about the eggsact (sorry) spelling of 'yoke' aside...

How do you find flying with a yoke vs a stick to be? I've been thinking of getting one for ages as I fly bombers most of the time.

Does it take much readjustment to get used to, and is it worth it for flying heavier multi-engine aircraft or is it not different enough to justify getting it?

It would be a Saitek that I'd pick up.

Pinko, forgive me but I can't find it. Can you be more specific as to where I can find it?

it did work and it's great!!!! Thank you very much!

I've been watching some videos with the HE 111, and the pilot will bring up a large map. At the bottom of the map, it says mission route. Does this map only appear in multiplayer? Or can you bring it up in single player too?

It give a lot more realism, I have owned Saitek, CH, and Ace yokes. There are new ones on marked today. But be aware that the cheap ones can make you frustrated after a while due to less smooth travel. I miss flying with a yoke myself

Press "O" that you see the map in full screen - is not resizable (like in RoF, IL-2:46, CloD), work in single and multiplayer, there you don't see mission route, only in single player.

"M" show kind of "GPS screen" in two sizes and is not available in multiplayer servers "full real" (EXPERT mode).

Also has 3rd party interactive (you can draw routes in then) maps that you can show in second monitor, tablet... Is possible show this maps over BoS screen using STEAM browser overly, don't require BoS STEAM version.

What does ata stand for AND which gauge is used to see it?

ATA is a German abbreviation for Atmosphäre Absolut

It is the manifold pressure of the engine. On the He 111, you can see it below the tachometers on the overhead instrument panel.

Does the RPM lever control the manifold pressure, and therefore the ata?

RPM-leveller controls your preferred setting of the RPM. Mostly you want to choose a RPM-setting fitting well with the power output of your engine. The propeller governor unit will react by changing the propellers pitch accordingly, today called constant speed props.

Thank you very much to everyone that helped.
