indiaciki Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 I'm thinking about buying one. Somthing tlike this:
Lusekofte Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 Be aware there is throttlequadrants out there for 2 engines too
WIS-Redcoat Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 If you go into the hardware section there our other options far superior to the saitek one you pictured.
TG-55Panthercules Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 I'm using a couple of Saitek pro throttle quadrants, but they don't look like that one - they look like this: I used one for years, but when I got my Rift a few weeks ago and decided I'd mostly be flying some of the twin-engine planes and needed some more buttons I could use in VR I got a second one. Maybe there are better ones out there, but mine have been great so far.
bzc3lk Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 (edited) I'm using two of these CH Throttle Quadrants And one of these, CH Pro Throttle. Edited September 19, 2017 by bzc3lk
pilotpierre Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 Have been using a CH one for years. I use a CH throttle for throttle and the quadrant axis for twin radiators, mixture and RPM control. The 6 up/down switches are very handy for whatever floats your boat.
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 I have one, I like it for me it has perfect length levers and good resistance along it's travel. You can rest hand on it to. Unfortunately some examples develop small spikes on pots with time but that is not real problem if they are small.
Yogiflight Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 (edited) I am using one or two of those, Panthercules posted, depending on the aircraft I am flying. One of them is feature of the Yoke system I am using, when flying bombers, and can not be used without the Yoke connected. Edited September 19, 2017 by Yogiflight
J37_Spyboy Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 I'm waiting for the VKB throttle to complement Gladiator joystick. Can't find out when it will be available though.
ZnarF Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 I use the independant Saitek Throttle Quadrant (3 levers and 6 buttons), honestly I can't recommand it to you, the pot it uses are really of bad quality, each axis "bounces", so when affected to Yak rads for example, you see the rad wheels move even when you don't touch tje levers. Very unimmersive, you should avoid this product!
dburne Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 I'm using two of these I use one of these CH Quadrants as well, for the additional axis'.
Bullets Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 Wish the CH 6 axis ones weren't so expensive. £140 seems to be the price we can get them here in the UK, no 2nd hand ones on ebay either I am surprised no other company has made alternatives Might just bite the bullet and order one much to the despise of my piggy bank
Sokol1 Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 (edited) I'm thinking about buying one. Somthing tlike this: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/uploads/monthly_09_2017/post-23845-0-73415800-1505791536_thumb.jpg This linked image is TQ3 of VirtualFly - very, very expensive, for their price you buy 10+ Saitek's quadrant. No information if use pot or contactless sensor - probable pot's, products oriented for FSX/XPlane don't use much sophisticated electronics. This "Virtual Fly delivers its Throttle Quadrant with a custom driver" could mean drivers compatible only with FSX/XPlane/Prepar3D (like some Saitek panels). Saitek Quadrant use low cost/quality/durability potentiometers = headache. GVL224 custom quadrants is the best option for games like BoS, their plus over "traditional" brands: Levers in metal laser cut Ball bearings in pivots axis Adjustable (internally) friction pads Contact less sensor (MagRes) in lever axis Four encoder with knobs, allow you trim planes with keys/buttons only option turning a wheel. Extra axis with knobs, potentiometers, buttons. "Customizable" at some degree. Edited September 19, 2017 by Sokol1
SYN_Mike77 Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 I've had both the 3 axis Saitek and the 6 axis CH. I highly recommend the CH. Not just for the extra axis but for the overall build quality. 2
unreasonable Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 I do - same as Panther's Saitek. Colour coded helps me remember black = oil cooler, red = mix, blue = water. Buttons for gear and flaps - well away from my throttle and stick so no using them by mistake. If your set up means having your keyboard off to one side, as mine does, not having to turn the head to hunt for letters is a huge plus.
Lusekofte Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 GVL224 custom quadrants is the best option for games like BoS, their plus over "traditional" brands: You should take a look on these, they are magnificent and you will not see better quality for such a cheap price
oneeyeddog Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 Like LuseKofte and Sokol1 I also recommend the devices made by GVL224. From hands on experience I can say there is really no comparison with a GVL224 device and a Saitek throttle and they're not that much more expensive. heres a link to more information regarding GVL224 http://simhq.com/for..._(a#Post4146346
1CGS LukeFF Posted September 19, 2017 1CGS Posted September 19, 2017 I have only great things to say as well about GVL224's work. The quality is excellent, and I received a controller built how I wanted it to be.
[CPT]CptJackSparrow Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 Ditto Luke. Iron Mechanic is good stuff.
Pharoah Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 I'm using two of these CH Throttle Quadrants +1 for the above esp for flying multi engine a/c. I use Black = throttle, Blue = prop pitch/RPM, Red = mixture, with the grey buttons mapped to gear/tailwheel, flaps, and then radiators, etc. Works well. With the JU52 you just swap one of the blues for black (you get spares) and you then have 3 engines, and just map all your pitch to 1 throttle.
Tag777 Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 I had a Saitek but now I changed it for the CH quadrant. I am very happy with the change and can recommend it. BTW I found and bought it second hand from Amazon. It works great
kestrel79 Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 I use the CH Quadrant. The blue knobs are for my water/oil rads, red is for mixture, and black is for prop pitch. I we got custom plane controls think I'd go more in depth but that works for me along with my Warthog throttle, I don't mind having a few extra on the CH Quad I don't use for now.
JimTM Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 I've used the CH 6-axis quadrant since about 2009 and I like it a lot. However, some of the busier axis controls are quite loose at the bottom end. I've taken to sliding paper shims in the slots to give a little resistance. Has anyone come across this issue? Any recommendations? Cheers!
xvii-Dietrich Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 I also use the CH 6-axis quadrant. It has been reliable and I like it a lot. One thing I'd like to be able to do is adjust the exact position mapping, so that against the indent = 25% throttle and pushing it into the indent makes it drop to 0%. This would be so useful for the Ju52. Any ideas on how to do this?
