SCG_motoadve Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 It works and after some game sessions starts to work erratic, then I calibrate, workks for a while and again erratically. Its kind of old 12 years or so. Dont know if there is a fix or need to retire it . If so which throttle do you guys recommend?
oneeyeddog Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 I use this throttle made by GVL224. This throttle is built from quality components and you can have it built to just about any configuration you want. GVL224 was a good Guy to deal with and the price was very reasonable. heres a link to more information regarding GVL224 http://simhq.com/for..._(a#Post4146346
Sokol1 Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 (edited) CH throttle is repairable - If you has skill and tools, open the throttle base, remove the potentiometer, wash then with isopropyl alcohol, or electronic cleanup spray. After press the tabs on pot connectors with a pliyers - generally they became loose causing bad contact and response errors/spikes. Test, if still failing is need replace the pot, contact CH, cost around $10. On positive side is the best pot used in domestic controllers, Saitek's use models ways worse and cheap. As throttle replacement the best option for game like BoS is this suggested by oneeyddog - GLV224 custom throttles. Levers is steel laser cut, ball bearings in pivots, contact less sensor in main axis, pot in rotaries, encoders (good for trim). And most important fit better for WWII planes needs with this several levers/axes that a "jet" throttle with several HAT/Slew. This is another option - made with GVL224 mechanics. https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/23758-iron-mechanic-throttle-motor-control-axes/ Edited September 19, 2017 by Sokol1
Soarfeat Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 Definitely check the pot wire connections, and if needed lightly squeeze the connectors for a tighter fit. I soldered mine in place to prevent this, but if you do this do not keep heat on these parts too long or it could possible damage the pot. I use this to clean pots ( especially for volume controls on speakers ), it works great !!! You can just spray in the slots of the CH pots and then twist the pots a bit to work out the dirty areas https://www.amazon.com/Hosa-Cable-Deoxit-Contact-Cleaner/dp/B00006LVEU/ref=sr_1_1?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1409098117&sr=1-1&keywords=contact+cleaner+and+lubricant#cm_cr_dpwidget Cheers -sf-

SCG_motoadve Posted September 19, 2017 Author Posted September 19, 2017 That is real bad, thanks for sharing. I might end up replacing my CH Throttle with a new CH then.
