indiaciki Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 (edited) You should point out that the game is very much flyable using the X-box controller. As is RoF. I am flying it for a month now although i have pedals, jostick & head tracking. The point is if you use the left joystick as a stick, right as pilot head, rudder and toe breaks etc. you can fly nearly as good (nearly, of course) and you attract new customers because they don't have to spend money for additional hardware. I use the x-box controller since my joystick died. I'll buy another one these days but for a beginner or wider base who are not willing to spend lots of money it's a much better alternative. You almost have something that works like tracking, rudder and toe brakes that are superior to a twist stick etc. You just have to communicate it right. I flew RoF for a year before i bought my pedals, stick etc. Edited September 13, 2017 by indiaciki
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 Nice discovery! Any curves or filters applied to the axis or do you have everything set to vanilla?
indiaciki Posted September 13, 2017 Author Posted September 13, 2017 (edited) everything max S - pitch most importantly. no driver. But the devs don't advertise it. This is stupid. Edited September 13, 2017 by indiaciki
BubiHUN Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 nice discovery but i see no point in it at all.
indiaciki Posted September 13, 2017 Author Posted September 13, 2017 (edited) Sales !!! That's why they put in that mouse/keyboard control. It's cheaper and most gamers have it. When the usual gamer (not simmer) gets on this forum or steam he get the impression that you need about 400$ in equipment just to fly when it's in fact just an old x-box contoller. They are frightened enough of the learning curve. Talking about best x00$ pedals etc, VR, sticks doesn't sound inviting for somebody how doesn't even know what it's like to fly a pattern. I prefer joystick, pedals and track vision, of course, but this would boost sales. Edited September 13, 2017 by indiaciki
BubiHUN Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 lol it is not true! need only a proper jostick
indiaciki Posted September 13, 2017 Author Posted September 13, 2017 (edited) You can use a stick only for sims. This is for attracting gamers not simmers. No gamer uses sticks anymore and that's min 50$ for something you can't use with other games. A controller is not wasted money for those who would try flying but are not sure about it. You still can play gta or nba2k if you are not into flying. Edited September 13, 2017 by indiaciki
BOO Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 $49.99 says people who aint absolutely sold on becoming the next joystick clutching Hartman wont try it.....
Monkie85 Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 I've used game-pad type controllers for years now for one simple reason, space. I travel for a living and there is no way I could pack a full sized joystick, pedals, etc etc. There are many ways to skin a cat and developers should never forget many very dedicated simmers find all sorts of ways to enjoy they're products. Just because I don't use a full sized joystick to fly my aircraft doesn't mean I am not a "serious" simmer.
