Skins... heavy in video RAM or RAM?

So... maybe there is an answer for this somewehere but I haven't found it..

So using 4k Skins-.... is this heavy on video RAM or "ordinary" RAM?

To be honest I don't think it really has much, if any, noticeable impact.

I am not experienced in skinning but what is the downside of using the 4K skins?    I wanted to bodge together a Spitfire skin but when I read people saying things along the lines of 'There are no Spit templates yet but we have 4K version so it wont be long' I took that as meaning I could not use the 4K ones.  I have now made a skin using the 4K template and it works fine but two skins in zipped format are still 31MB.  Is size on disk & emails the only issue?

Use something like Mega or similar to host the file and just post the link on the forum if you want to share yer skin. Mega is pretty much up there as far as storage on a free account goes (50gb). I've got LOADS kept on it and still LOADS of space to go.

Higher resolution skins will increase your VRAM usage. Although this is only a small amount and for most players rarely noticeable. I would not say it is "heavy" though. The difference is really small.

I have never noticed a difference on RAM. 

Of course, if you use an older video card with little VRAM that already has problems with the game, then it will cause frame drops. 

If you use a video card that can handle the game fine, you should be fine to use 4K skins.
