NETSCAPE Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 (edited) Waypoints no longer show up on the map. Not having them in the "game world" or players view is one thing, but not even having the icon on the map is another thing... I am assuming the last update changed this. Interestingly when you are flight lead and an attack or land mcu is triggered, those appear in the game world still (with object markers on). But I play the game in expert mode, and what I make is intended for that mode. Sometimes I test with object markers on just to quickly and easily identify if objects are where they should be. I know I can use check zones or complex triggers so I don't have to rely on events being triggered from WP's. But I like the WP method for some cases when I want more precise timing of an event or scene. I use 2500/3000m range for those, assuming the player is in expert mode and checks his map for the WP ICON. Having the waypoints on map the player could at least see if they passed through it or not, since it would disappear and the following one would show up. That's the logic with the latter half of my Stuka campaign. If the player can't see the waypoint icons on the map, then the latter half of my Stuka campaign is crippled to say the least... relying on the player to stay with the Staffel and check his map on occasion is one thing, which worked fine according to player feedback... but not knowing if you passed through a waypoint and having no knowledge of that whatsoever whether in the player view or on the map, is another... Luckily the player won't be flight lead in this Bf 110 campaign I am working on most of the time. I think I can get away with the only exceptions being a couple bomber escort missions - and in those one can assume the player will deviate off course a lot due to dog fights. So I will use large check zones or complex triggers rather than waypoints. So I guess I'll rework the flight plan for this current mission and make the player a wingman again... wish I would have caught this sooner though, or we could have gotten some sort of heads-up. I mean I'm already 7 missions deep into this Bf 110 campaign but 6 of them the player is wingman. But really the thought of all those Stuka missions......ugh. I wish I would have known the plans for this game change. Either missions will be somewhat "broken" to players who don't stay with the Staffel, or I'll have to rework half the missions. The amount of hours spent on Sirens of Death already is insane. Let alone fixing an issue in half the missions that was initially a non issue. yeah. I'm probably going to throw in the rag on that campaign, make it available to the public and scrap the idea of selling it. And keep forward momentum going on the future campaigns. I guess I need to never rely on triggering events from waypoints ever again. And if the player is flight lead there is no point in using them now. Edited September 11, 2017 by NETSCAPE
NETSCAPE Posted September 11, 2017 Author Posted September 11, 2017 Well a IRL friend just tested a mission of mine and said he saw the WP's on the map on expert mode. So this seems to be an isolated issue with me. If I make 1 plane, 1 waypoint, obviously target link it from a mission begin, object link it to the plane... the bloody thing doesn't show up on map. Yes I am hitting 'i' and 'h'. So it's not a mission specific issue for me. I am reinstalling the game right now and going to cross my fingers.
Thad Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 Amazingly frustrating... I'm sure. No logical reason for this anomaly?
NETSCAPE Posted September 11, 2017 Author Posted September 11, 2017 Nope apparently I'm the lucky one
Habu Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 I would say that's your mission settings for the server which were bad and which avoid the display of icons.
NETSCAPE Posted September 11, 2017 Author Posted September 11, 2017 Hey Habu, thanks but I only make content for single player so far.
Habu Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 Hey Habu, thanks but I only make content for single player so far. Same things, i talk about server, but it's the same for the single mode. When you set the difficulty of the mission (Easy, norma, expert, personalise), you have to enable one option to see the icons. It's teyh same things for the subtitle if you use some in your mission.
