Ryu4fly Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 I know this is an easy fix, but every time I pull the stick back really hard the gunsight ends up moving down drastically. I was wondering if there was a way to prevent that through trackir.. Ive heard some people telling me to set up limits in the trackir profile, but cant seem to quite get it to work. Any suggestions?
sniperton Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 Moreover, there's a "center pan view" command in BoX. Assign a stick or hotas button to it and you'll have centered view as long as you keep that button pressed (your head movement is ignored while the button is pressed)
US63_SpadLivesMatter Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 With TrackIR I notice that if I exceed the maximum limit of upward view while looking up (in-game), when I try to return to center, it doesn't go back down all the way, and I have to re-center. Fix for me was not to look straight up, but when something is going that way, look up and over one shoulder.
56RAF_Roblex Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 (edited) What annoys me is that the rear sight in the IL-2 43 mod is never aligned with the front sight and if I line them up and freeze TrackiR for an attack run then as soon as I launch one rocket the view goes askew again. EDIT: That was me being stupid. I must have saved that head position sometime in the past by pressing F10. Fixed now. Edited September 17, 2017 by 56RAF_Roblex
Ryu4fly Posted September 15, 2017 Author Posted September 15, 2017 I just use a joystick button to re-center my TrackIR view whenever I need to...which is often I've been doing that for quite some time, but I was curious if there was a way to mess with the trackir profile so that I would not have to press the re-center button? or is the g-force effect something that I cant really prevent?
Guest deleted@83466 Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 (edited) Pretty sure it's G-force, yes. When you unload the aircraft, your point-of-view should come back to exactly where it was before. I think it adds to the immersion. It would be even more cool if they provided a little bit of lateral movement as well, to give you the sensation of a slip or a skid. Edited September 15, 2017 by Iceworm

If you disable your y axis, your gunsight will not "go down" on heavy maneuvers - but you'll be unable to "duck" inside the cockpit, too. I tried to fly without y-axis movement for a while in RoF, and while it prevented this annoying gunsight movement, it also prevented me from ducking or raising inside the cockpit and sometimes looking below the upper wings or to the side was a little hard. Then, I reenabled y-axis and now I just to what I used to do before: you can "bring your gunsight back" by just rapidly twisting your head down and up again (like "look at your knees and straight in front again in a rapid movement). This brings your sight in view again, no need to recenter trackir (works in every situation, even when slightly tilted during a curve or maneuvering - better than "recenter off center" during fight, and quicker too. About immersion: I agree that this kind of difficulty may add to immersion, but as soon as you unload your aircraft the sight *should* go back too - which doesn't happen. Also, I'm not sure if the effect is simulating the equipment under G-load or your body. If it was your body, then the sight should go up, not down. Maybe in the future the devs take another look into this. Cheers

A profile you downloaded from the internet, or came with the software, may be set up for someone with a smaller monitor. That's why the limits don't work for you. Use the "show pano" when you setup your movement limits in the track IR software. That cockpit gives you reference points. A trackIR profile is pretty personal. You need to fiddle with your settings and make your own. Try this one I'm using. I have a 27 inch screen @1440P . If it works better than yours, it can be a better place to start. Remontti Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 You could also use TrackIRs ability to use multiple profiles. One with reduced or disabled Y-axis movement for combat and another with Y-axis allowing to duck inside cockpit. Switching profiles can be set as switch or so that other profile is activated only while button is pressed.

Hi Remontti, this is new for me (I'm a TrackIR user since 2009 but have never found this option). How do you configure this "switch profile" command? Couldn't find where to bind a key or button to change profiles while in game, enabling the use of different profiles for the same game. Cheers

Cheers Sorry jokerBR, I totally forgot this thread. Here is how you do it: 1. Make a copy of your original BoS profile and name it something like "BoS - No Y-axis". 2. Now in this "Bos - No Y-axis" disable the Y-axis. 3. Then under Hotkeys (see picture) choose Profile from Action menu. Set Key to what you want to use to activate this profile (it can be joystick, keyboard). 4. Tick Enable. If you don't tick Toggle, this "BoS - No Y-axis" is active only when you keep the key pressed down (the one you chose in step 3.). Note that if you use toggle, you need to enable Profile section in your original BoS profile and set a key. Otherwise you won't be able to switch back to original profile. 1
jokerBR Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 Doh! Right in front of me all these years. Thank you very much for this tip! Very useful, indeed. Cheers.
