1./KG4_OldJames Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 In the game, graphics settings show my target frame rate as 140, but the option to change it is not there. how do i change it in my seemingly never ending quest for frame rate/graphics quality balance?
Remontti Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 If I remember correctly, this option is locked (to 90) when using VR.
TG-55Panthercules Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 I just turned that function off - really wanted to get the desired visual quality and let the chips fall where they may as to FPS (knowing that I might have to consciously dial down some specific setting if FPS got unacceptably low), rather than have the game randomly decide to ratchet down the quality in some unknown manner trying to maintain the target FPS.

I've always understood it as the target FPS is a limiter, i.e. your FPS won't go above that. The setting that will lower quality to maintain high FPS is dynamic resolution.
A_radek Posted September 9, 2017 Posted September 9, 2017 Remonti is correct. That fps limit option is only for monitor mode. It is disabled in VR mode and set to 90, no matter what the user has chosen. The reason it exists is so that the user can match their max fps to their monitor refresh rate. Rendering more frames than what your monitor can display only yields unnecessary heat and energy consumption.
1./KG4_OldJames Posted September 9, 2017 Author Posted September 9, 2017 Thanks for the replits, but i really just wanted to know how to change the settings
coconut Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 Start the game without VR, then the list box should become reactive
