I finally made it.

 

5 kills in one mission with the LaGG and landed safely. After my fourth kill a friendly spawned, which then proceded to steal two kills from me before I got the last one. The AI LaGG is definately not useless when working as a pair.

 

Totally we scored seven between us, including 3 aces and a pair.

 

Landed safely after the fifth (which was my goal) and with ammo to spare

 

What's the best you'va accomplished in the LaGG?

With max difficult enabled (press "h" and all hub and visual help disappear) I accomplished a soviet parachute license at various jump quote. S!

I forgot to mention: Difficulty was ofc on 'expert', but I did cheat and use external views for the initial spotting, though I stayed inside the cockpit for the rest if each fight, only going 'outside' again to watch my victims as they fell.

I only just managed a single kill with no icons, padlock or externals. Really had to work for it too. Can't image myself getting five any time soon.

Best I've got was 2 in a row, but didn't push my luck going for more. Normally I was only able to get a kill 1 in every 10 tries or so, so I'm happy with this

Ok, now I feel bad.

 

I swear, I didn't make this thread to congratulate myself (how sad would that be?) but for people to share their stories.

 

I was convinced, that a lot of guys had already made 10 in a row or something. Must be the external view thing. I absolutely refuse to believe, that I'm even half as good a sim pilot as Feathered.

Next time session, i'll count them! 

If i recall well, i think i made the 5 kills with the Lagg before landing safely...or was it 4? Not sure...

But in the 109, it was much more before running out of ammos though.

I've managed seven, but two of them were damaged by my wingman first. I ran out of MG but had a few cannon rounds left.

 

I suspect results against human pilots may differ slightly.

The last one I got had taken a shot from my wingman as well and was leaking fuel.

 

That AI LaGG was brutal!

 

But yeah: AI is just AI, once you figure out how to best it, you can pretty much just repeat that over and over.

Heh, well, if developing good AI would be easy, we would be ruled by our robotic overlords by now!

 

 

There is always the problem with AI vs Simplified FM. I personally vouch for dumber AI than to have those MagicPlanes from, say, original Il-2.

Being a offliner, nothing pissed me of more than the unrealistic FM the AI used, outclimbing & out turning me on every occasion...grrrrr...

Having icons enabled makes a massive difference. I struggle to get a single kill without them, but can get 5 with icons showing

Happy that, for the moment, break 109 wing is easy. Generaly, one 20mm hit is enought. The wing break one second after it be hit. I alway fly in expert mode without icon. If i want to have a chance to be in position of fire (généraly after an Imelman), i've to bring 60% of fuel...It s hard to see a contact over u....lose it, pray the lord....

Crickey. I don't know about that mate. The best I can usually say is that I usually make it home. It's the bit in between that I struggle with.
