Panzerlang Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Time to throw JG3's hat into the ring. JG3 was originally set up in 2002 for IL2 and had around twelve pilots at its height. It went on and off over following years as we juggled with various games, online wars and RL commitments and Jetlag, the CO, finally closed the forums after the last best hope (CloD) went down in smoke. Now it's back, in time for a few months of battle over the channel front on the ATAG 4.0 server before our glorious idiot of a leader declares war on the SU. II/JG3 will be operating under the DiD persona system but will not be restricted to formal online wars. So long as a server runs a full-real setup our pilots will be able to fly and score official missions upon it. We are open to both European and Amereican pilots. The site is up on a temporary server but is still a WiP. A forum will be established if we get enough interest. Teamspeak will also be implemented 24/7. It's not going to be a milspec affair but pilots will be expected to be 'serious' about their careers. Survival and sorties first, kills as the cherries on the cake. There are ranks and baubles of course. Oh, the baubles! Shiny like the sun. The site is here: http://www.hetzer.talktalk.net/ If it tickles your fancy and you like the sound of the way ops in the gruppe will be please send me a PM here and come on board. And a huge thankyou is in order to I/JG27 for allowing the use of their rank images, which are truly works of art.
Panzerlang Posted December 18, 2013 Author Posted December 18, 2013 Four successful sorties over the channel front. Holy crap, those manual E 109s are hard work!
LBR=H-Ostermann Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Do you have any yanks in your ranks yet? Or anyone from the western hemisphere I should say.
Panzerlang Posted December 20, 2013 Author Posted December 20, 2013 There are two 'muricans cogitating on it at the moment but JV44 it ain't. I don't think the lure of Knights Crosses that count for something are making the nut, need JETS.
Panzerlang Posted December 20, 2013 Author Posted December 20, 2013 Clarification on probably the most important aspect of DiD, and that which sets JG3 apart from most other squads: You earn awards by killing enemy planes. Then you put those awards in your sigtag or whatever. But if your persona dies you lose the lot. No accumulation of award glory regardless of dying. The awards you see are the result of a no-death streak and count all the more. Anyone can rack up medals for kills but only the DiD method shows the truth...medals and still alive or uncaptured. It's too strict for most but meh, DiD was never meant to be easy.
Panzerlang Posted December 20, 2013 Author Posted December 20, 2013 A warm welcome to our first flieger, I/II/JG3~Target.
LBR=H-Ostermann Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Thanks, looking forward to being sans medals for many sorties to come. Just like in the old days. Hey Ded Ace are you here?
Panzerlang Posted December 20, 2013 Author Posted December 20, 2013 (edited) The sorties have their own rewards. Gerd Barkhorn got no kills in his first 100 sorties I should add. Edited December 20, 2013 by II/JG3Siggi
LBR=H-Ostermann Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Oh if I don't HAVE to shoot down anyone this shouldn't be too hard.
Panzerlang Posted December 27, 2013 Author Posted December 27, 2013 A big welcome to Von Guber from the Black Haze J7, another WW1 vet who has signed up and is now our XO.
Panzerlang Posted December 28, 2013 Author Posted December 28, 2013 (edited) And another welcome to Klaue and Reddog, two more WW1 vets. Edited December 28, 2013 by II/JG3Siggi
Panzerlang Posted April 22, 2014 Author Posted April 22, 2014 S! http://ii-jg3.net/ We still need pilots, mainly for the Eastern Front (once we transfer) as CloD doesn't seem to be very popular (only two of us regularly fly it). Once BoS is ready for full-real missions CloD will no longer be flown anyway (to maintain temporal continuity). However, if the TF Malta mod makes it before BoS we shall be taking a sojourne there (BoB will end for us at that point). Some notes on our DiD policy. Personas can be killed (loss of everything other than rank, in order to maintain command continuity). However, death is subject to a die-roll. This is to maintain a semblance of reality, in that most online pilots are pretty much aces, whereas in reality only 5% of commonwealth pilots achieved that status. This causes vastly more deaths than was real and has a tendency to put players off flying for outfits that run DiD. We calculate the chance of death at 1 in 20 (20-sided die-roll), which equates to that 5%. You die only if a 13 is rolled ('Lucky-13'). We are also after dedicated tank-killers for the Schlachtstaffel we intend to institute as a permanent component of our gruppe. In that case you should be handy with the Ju-87 'Stuka'. You will enjoy the same benefits of baubles and associated glory for killing tanks of course. We currently have eight pilots on our roster, most of whom are in reserve until BoS is ready. Ideally we'd like enough such that no pilot ever has to go up on a public server single-handed. US and Euro based pilots are equally welcome. Also ideally we'd like as many pilots as possible to be able to commit to at least one regular session a week, at a fixed time wherever possible. This best allows our boys to organize and get together to fly in strength. Those who are able to commit the most, and show competence, will enjoy promotion and leadership duties. The object of the exercise is to enjoy the pleasure of simulated WW2 air combat, within a structure that enhances the experience and adds to the level of immersion. You will not only be simulating the combat but the careers of the pilots also. Please have a look over the site if you're interested and either PM me here or use our forum to get in touch (it's under the "HQ" tab at the top of every page on the site). JG3, since 1999.
Kyle422 Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 I would be interested in joining. This type of group is new to me as I am usually the one to play Tact realism on arma 3 and such, but I will give it a shot. 1
II/JG3Murph_ Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 come drop by the forum, and send us a message in the recruitment forum, we will get you all set.
LBR=H-Ostermann Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 This part of the forum has been too stagnant for too long, bump.
Panzerlang Posted July 21, 2014 Author Posted July 21, 2014 (edited) Un-armoured BoB 109s are not flavour of the month. Or year (CloD). Never mind that it flies like a barge vs the UFO Spitfires. Everyone's waiting for the Freds and Gustavs. And the 190. Yes, we're optimistically awaiting an explosion of applications once BoS takes off. Edited July 21, 2014 by II/JG3Siggi
dinger Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 I applied to this group a while back and have not heard anything from you guys.... are you guys no longer or not recruiting...or what?
LBR=H-Ostermann Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 (edited) Dinger we haven't seen your post in our recruiting forum. Was your forum registration authorized? I think the board sometimes doesn't make the notification to the admin. PM me if you're still interested. Edited July 27, 2014 by JG3Target
Panzerlang Posted July 27, 2014 Author Posted July 27, 2014 It was a cockup in the forum registration function, it hasn't been sending emails when people register. Sorry Dinger. You have been activated as of yesterday.
BigPickle Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Have applied. Looking for team play and with TS coms, UK times, sometime not able to do regular because of work hours. Not looking to play CLOD only BoS, hopefully there will be peeps playing dogfights or what ever untill BoS is released proper.
Panzerlang Posted August 15, 2014 Author Posted August 15, 2014 Hi BP. I've activated your account. Our guys sometimes go onto the BoS expert servers but it's only for practice, we won't be scoring our personas until the game's been released and proper full-real servers have been established. Meanwhile we're still fighting the Battle of Britain, which fights a lot harder than BoS. Master the Emils against the Spitfires and you'll find BoS a walk in the park. Mainly because the 109F/G has center-mounted guns in BoS and is to the Yaks and Laggs as the Spitfire is to the Emil. S!
sialo Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 (edited) hi probably a stupid question but do you only fly the german planes , if so doesnt that restrict you , most germans are bnz , would seem a shame to not fly the yaks and laggs etc . the squadron you have looks great but i would like to join a squadron that can mix it up learn different dog fighting styles . Edited August 22, 2014 by lord_sialoquent
LBR=H-Ostermann Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 Yes we are dedicated to flying German A/C. I suppose you might say we approach the game in a more historical fashion. Not that there's anything wrong with mixing it up if it cranks your tractor. Personally I have my hands full learning just one plane.
xHUSKERx Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 I have been trying to find a DiD wing for the longest time! How do I go about applying a flying with you guys? Also what all games are you guys active on?
SAG Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Hello, i just bought BoS Yesterday since i couldnt stand all the problems/bugs i had going on with CloD (even with team fusion patches) and im looking for a Squad/team to join on this game that plays regularly and is friendly to newcomers (ive flown before, but mostly in CloD and im a bit rusty) can i join here or is there some other group that could be more suitable for me. many thanks JSAGS
