is now possible and yields a major FPS boost.

Just a shout to those who like a very clear and fluid VR experience and don't mind leaving unnecessary fluff by the side of the road :)

I am not sure if that is possible to make the fps run a bit better than current status. I am currently on 30 fps with my vr, I consider that my rig is not bad for vr, cpu 6600k, and 32g ram, ssd, 1080ti. It should not have such a big hit on the performance with the shadow option on.

Have you checked out the thread below and run the benchmark test in its first post?  It seems like that rig should probably be getting better FPS performance in VR, unless that CPU is a lot weaker than its number would seem to indicate.

BTW, FWIW, I noticed a fairly substantial FPS hit when using either or high or (especially) ultra shadows, but not so much at medium, and I didn't see much improvement at all going from medium to off, but YMMV.

Had to give up the OFF shadows, because of the absurd glare from the cockpit floor

However I'm sticking to low shadows and for me there's a significant difference in performance from low to medium.

I agree with Panthercules that you should get a much higher performance in VR, there must be something wrong with your settings. Also your CPU is a k model, so should be easily overclocked.

I agree with Nibbio and Panthercules, this is way too low, and will also lead to severe frame drops. Anything below 45 is no-no-land. Your system should be capable to usually hold 90fps and dip down to 50 for a minimum, given that you overclocked your CPU (it's a K model, and made for overclocking).

thanks for the info, I will certainly give it a try. I have a feeling that it may have something to do with the stutter I got from the HTC VIVE, The computer keeps wasting resources on "system interrupts" after a while in the game, taking 13-40% of the usage of cpu for no reason, I can only replug or restart the computer to make it go away, but it still happens even after each time reboot. I am not sure if any one has experienced anything similar to this?

Other people also have the problem but there is no solutions

In one of those threads you quoted someone claims the problem was solved after installing and using a USB PCI card. Might be worth a shot?

Yeah, I saw that, but as far as I go into his post, he says that only makes the problem a little bit better.

It sounds like you are in the exact same boat as me. I purchased a PCI-E USB 3.0 card for $20 on amazon and now it runs great most of the time but still crashes out daily from interrupts. I'm actually able to play for an 45-60 minutes before the problem stops me from playing and it's the same problem - system interrupts, just on core/thread 6 now instead of 0

I see. Did you check also these:

it seems some motherboard utilities can cause this problem. Disabling them apparently solved it.

@ Do you have anyone knowledgable, who can take a look at your system/software. A lack of an USB card drops tracking and leads to other issues, but not to constantly low fps. I believe your OS might be trashed with adware, malware, and generally random software, as well as having some major software configuration errors. I want to be blunt here (sorry!) in order to get you to a proper, satisfying solution.

You wouldn't believe what I have encountered. The pinnacle I've seen was an IT-Student who bought a gtx1070, but kept the monitor plugged into the onboard hdmi for half a year, flaming left and right about "game being so badly optimized!! %&@! ". True story

Hi, I can confirm this to anyone who has the same issue as  myself

It turns out that the HTC VIVE is in conflict with one of the motherboard utilities. RGB management software( I can not remember the name of it but as soon as i end the task in the task manager, the system interrupt has been steady).

My motherboard is Gigabyte Z270 K5 gaming.
