Ju87 D5!

This Topic is about Ju87D5 and it's mighty 20mm instead of the weak 7,92mm. Can we expect the Ju87 modification for it? I mean we have the IL-2 with 23mm already. Adding this feature just like it was done with La5 Engine modification. It would make some historical balance as well. Just an Idea!

To be fair there were more changes than just the exchange of the main airmament. Namely the increased wingspan and the addition of bad weather equipment were significant enought to make it worth a seperat aircraft instead of a mod.

The D5 would be my dream aircraft for that sim :fly: . But I agree that a B2 would be nice too.

As 5tuka said, better to do it a separate aircraft. too many modifications to make a simple mod for the D3. There were conversion kits for the D1 and D3 to replace the wings by the elongated ones (and add the 20mm too) but they would be then called D7 and D8 respectively. Not sure if they were very common though.

One thing I want to see modelled on the D5 is the jettisonable landing gear, so that we can do proper belly landings in the wild !

For the numbers, according to the books I have here, production of the D5 was the same as for the D3 reaching about 1500 aircrafts for each variants. So it definitely have it's place along the D3 we have.

Funny enough, the B2 only reached 230 planes produced (and 700 for the B1) before being phased out by the R2 variant.

Nice thing about the B and R models is that they where still used even in late 42 at Stalingrad.

I definitely agree, I used to love using it on the Il2 1946
