dburne Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Hey I am just curious, So far in the missions I have flown in my PWCG campaign , I start out - with my wingmen - on the runway and the waypoints we follow have us climbing in a circle until we reach the assigned mission altitude - like for instance 3900. Then we start flying out toward the designated mission area. Climbing in this circle until we reach designated altitude obviously takes some time and fuel. I am sure there is a good reason for this and was just wondering about it? It seems like normally a flight would climb to altitude on the flight out toward the designated action area? Or is it actually this way was more the norm? Not complaining I am loving PWCG so far, just one of those things that I am curious about... Thanks for any feedback,
Yogiflight Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 This was introduced by Patrick, as before you mostly met the enemy fighters with altitude advantage on their side, as they came in with their flight altitude already reached, whereas your flight was still in your climb. This happens still sometimes, but very rarely. If you should not like it, you can take the climbing circle out in the advanced config in 'Mission Limits' the point 'Generate Climb Waypoints'.

Ah that explains it then, no problem it is not a big deal. Just flew a fantastic airfield attack mission, and it did not have the climbing circle as it was of course at a lower altitude. It was a fantastic mission and I managed to kill a couple of 110's and get back safely home. Absolutely loving this program!
TheSNAFU Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 Glad to see you enjoying PWCG. It has been and remains the primary way I enjoy this sim. I'm playing a campaign now that started in front of Moscow in October 41 and I'm now based at Pitomnik in front of Stalingrad some 80 missions in. Have fun! 1
BMW801 Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 Glad to see you enjoying PWCG. It has been and remains the primary way I enjoy this sim. I'm playing a campaign now that started in front of Moscow in October 41 and I'm now based at Pitomnik in front of Stalingrad some 80 missions in. Have fun! Agreed! PWCG is my primary way of enjoying this sim as well. Between PWCG and the outstanding VR implementation, this sim is really all I do on the computer at home. Looking forward to the upcoming career mode too, but PWCG has been excellent fun for me for many months. Thanks again, Pat! I hope at some point the new Kuban map and time frame can be incorporated, but I know it would be a lot of work.
dburne Posted September 7, 2017 Author Posted September 7, 2017 Yes I am thoroughly enjoying PWCG , have spent a few hours and several missions in it already. It is a great tool for us SP lovers. I am sure I will continue to use it for a long time, along with the new Career as well. Between those two along with some scripted campaigns along the way, I will not be lacking for any SP content for sure. I am pretty sure I saw Pat mention that he would be supporting Kuban map at some point.
