Playing the career mode with jasta 2 occasionally i would be asked to do a solo recon. I would follow the waypoint markers, climbing really quite high, and when I was over the target area, you had to select from a notepad the target category and I think a sub category. 

I had no idea what I was doing, and I was too high to identify the ground units, not that I believe I personally would have been much better if I were less than 20 meters above them

I was just wondering if anybody knew how you were supposed to correctly ID ground units for recon sorties, could be useful, as I have recently heard a similar recon mechanic may be coming to BoX

Zoom in to see better ,but before that open manual/guide or in game editor to familiarize with units.

Not sure if it's the same as in multiplayer, but if it is you must select the camera in your load out.

No it was different. I tried it MP too, and I know what you mean, but in this instance you had to correctly ID the ground units.
