-C4-MikoEx Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 Hi, On Mc 202 doesnt work change from continous mode to combat or emergency. It will just show message but engine doesnt react. Will be fixed? When you compare with Bf 109... sound and performance after mode change visible and feelable immediately. Both planes same engine.
F/JG300_Gruber Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 (edited) Hey there, 3 things to keep in mind with the Macchi : - Performance wise, the engine is somewhere between the sloppy E7 engine and the not-that-great F2 engine, and the plane itself is a bit heavier than the F2. So you can't really expect your airspeed skyrocket in the blink of an eye. - The engine will always run at 2200rpm no matter what manifold pressure you ask with your throttle, even in emergency mode. So it is normal that you don't perceive any noticeable change in engine noise, but if you listen more carefully (or increase volume a bit ) you can hear that when you ask for more punch, the engine is kind of "growling" a bit stronger. - There is a manual boosted mode (look for "engine boost on/off" command in your bindings) that will allow the engine to run at 2400rpm . There you will hear a noticeable engine noise change and get a bit more of your airplane (plus your 12.7mm machineguns will fire a bit quicker ). It won't be a world beater but this is something you will want to use in combat situation. Watch your temperatures though, engine will heat up more quickly. Edited October 31, 2017 by F/JG300_Gruber
ST_Pirato Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 I too noticed that sometimes Ata doesn't increase over 1.2 ,even at 100% throttle. Temperature is not even close to overheating. Has propably something to do with automated mode
Barnacles Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 If you don't enable the higher rpm by pressing the boost button, the engine won't be able to achive the manifold pressure required to enter boosted mode unless you are at very low altitude. Fly with the boost key on (2400rpm) unless you are cruising and wish to conserve fuel.
ST_Pirato Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 What about Combat mode? So is it only aviable on lower altitudes?
Barnacles Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 The higher you go, the less manifold pressure you can achieve. To enter combat mode or boosted mode at higher altitudes in the Macchi run at higher rpm by pressing the boost button (engine boost on/off). the exact altitude depends on atmospheric conditions but if you don't have engine boost on, it's pretty low for combat, even lower for boosted mode.
