Jorge_S Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 (edited) 3rd post... I am still in the process of mapping my keyboard/ gamepad to fit, more or less, the game keys into an IL-2 Cliffs of Dover (CLOD) format I am used to It has been hard, but I can say I am almost finished. Something I noticed, however, is that in CLOD there is an autopilot mode for bombers (Blenheim, JU-88 and I believe HE-111 too), you change between course mode, mode 22 and autopilot off. You can then move left and right Is this implemented in BOS/ M/ K ? if so what is the key binding? I can't find it thanks again Edited September 3, 2017 by Jorge_S
Yogiflight Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 You can select the AI Pilot Level Flight On/Off. It will fly you on the current altitude in the current direction. And you have AI Pilot Level Flight Left Turn/Right Turn for course corrections, that are done then by small rudder inputs. It works pretty well, but for larger turns you should turn off the level pilot and do them manually.
Jorge_S Posted September 4, 2017 Author Posted September 4, 2017 Is it still the case that only bombers can use this? is there a list of planes that can use autopilot? I bet only JU88 and HE111
1CGS LukeFF Posted September 4, 2017 1CGS Posted September 4, 2017 All planes can use level autopilot.
Sokol1 Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 (edited) CLOD there is an autopilot mode for bombers (Blenheim, JU-88 and I believe HE-111 too), you change between course mode, mode 22 and autopilot off. In BoS you have "autopilot for level flight "- similar to autolevel of IL2:46, but that allow you correct the heading right/left without turn off the "autopilot", and can be used including in fighters. CLoD try replicate the operation of German "Kurssteuerung" K 4 ü - that keep the plane in heading defined in "Kurskreisel" (Course Setter). TF implemented "Kurssteuerung" as workaround in Blenheim/Br.20 due their "impossibility" to be trimmed for level flight necessary for bomb runs, this planes don't have any kind of autopilot. Assign buttons/keys for: AI-autopilot for level flight: on/off Level flight AI-autopilot: left turn Level flight AI-autopilot: right turn Could use mouse click in bombsight interface for heading corrections. Don't confuse with "AI-autopilot on/off", this fly the plane (takeoff, combat, landing...) for you. Edited September 4, 2017 by Sokol1
Jorge_S Posted September 4, 2017 Author Posted September 4, 2017 (edited) thanks for the answers I guess 3 keys that won't be mapped to the keyboard then... I mean setting autopilot in a fighter can be an immersion killer. I still don't understand why they didn't allow the capability to save specific key mapping user profiles (only one is allowed) Edited September 4, 2017 by Jorge_S
