Torso Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 Hey All. Loving the update but curious if anyone has had and issues in VR. Seems I get this flicker/screen snap when looking around. I am using a Rift. I never had this prior to the update and it seems related to clouds to some degree. Changing the setting for them affects the issue it appears. I run several other titles with no issue and did not have one with BoX titles previously. I am using a EVGA 1080FTW with the latest drivers, had been using previous so update to the ones released a coupel weeks ago to make sure I was current. Game is on an SSD drive, again ran like butter prior to update. Anyone see similar issues at all?
=EXPEND=Tripwire Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 What in-game settings are you running. It sounds like dropped frames to me. I experienced issues in VR with shadows set on ultra or high when running the ultra preset. I remained on ultra and had to move shadows back down to medium to fix stuttering issues. What was odd in this case was that it appeared to get worse at higher altitudes - which is typically where the game gets its best framerates. You may not have the same issue I did, but try that and see anyway.

No change. tried lowering landscape detail setting..aa, no real change. Now I paid more attention to the behavior and noticed the light colored SteamVR "boundary circle" that is at feet when in the cockpit goes from almost opaque to solid in time with the flicker/stutter. So in a sense the boundary ring is flashing and only flashes when the flicker/stutter occurs. I know the other day there was a SteamVR update pushed out but In the SteamVR home no issue at all, smooth as silk. Same with other titles that use SteamVR (and not Oculus as no issue for any title using that at all), like Assetto Corsa..no issue while panning view. It is like there is a stutter in the tracking when panning your head in the cockpit. Just odd it is ONLY this title and ONLY since the update. If a SteamVR issue would expect other titles to suffer from it and if a BoX only issue would expect other to report it. But haven't seen similar reported in regard to the flickering SteamVR boundary ring sync'd to the screen stutter. Will continue tryin things to see if I can resolve. Just wanted to get it out there in case not just me. Still loving it of course. It is to me THE best in it's genre currently and only getting better. Except for my issue currently that is
TG-55Panthercules Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 Curious why you're running with the "light colored SteamVR 'boundary circle'" enabled - one of the first things I did with my Rift was turn that thing off. Given that the flashing seems to correlate somewhat with that boundary ring, I wonder if somehow your sensors aren't adjusted quite right for BoS and you're having tracking issues when you pan around? Have you turned off the feature/function that makes the Rift display a gray screen when it has tracking issues? Seems like that could look like flickering if it's kicking in occasionally. Just shooting in the dark here as while I seem to have managed to get my Rift working pretty darn well with BoS I don't really understand the theory behind it very well yet. Good luck!
