indiaciki Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Goolgle earth images converted to fake recon photographs. 1
Royal_Flight Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 I've wanted the inclusion of photorecon for ages. The RAF used Spitfire PR variants for this (with allover light pink or sky blue camo, both of which look awesome) and cameras and fuel replacing the armament. Not sure what the Luftwaffe and VVS used but I would love to see dedicated recon variants made as a mod via the unlock system and a mechanic added in-game for this to be done. Your photos have inspired me... I was thinking along the lines of either having a rough location of targets in a given area by grid references and when you overfly them and RTB they are marked on the map. But seeing your photos, maybe there could be a function to add a bombsight-esque view to a photorecon a/c and when you overfly the target and line it up in the crosshairs, pressing the trigger allows you to take a photo of the area instead which gets a filter applied like in your pictures, and made available to your own side to study. Useful for locating targets, planning an attack, or checking how a strike went to see what has been destroyed and what is still there. Or the low-budget solution is to fly over the area and look out the window and take a screenshot then share it in chat or teamspeak or something...
sergio_ Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 (edited) Please correct me anyone if I'm wrong, but I think it's Coconut server where if you fly over an enemy object (column, factory, etc) it will show up in the map after 5 minutes? That is a nice recon mechanic, at least something that can be used. Edit: I found this in Coconut info tab of his server web: "Map symbols appear on the map 5 minutes after flying nearby an enemy supply storage. The same spotting mechanism is used for anti-air defences. The map symbol identifies the target, and does not pinpoint the actual location of the planes." Edited August 31, 2017 by Amnesic
Royal_Flight Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 Awesome, didn't know that as I haven't been on that server. But I think I know where I'll be spending my weekend.
Venturi Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 Coconut is an awesome mission designer, and he made most of the well-loved and often-flown ROF multiplayer missions.
JaffaCake Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 Wouldn't that by google's copyright and difficult to use in the game?
Guest deleted@30725 Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 Wouldn't that by google's copyright and difficult to use in the game? If google earth images were chosen a business such as 1c-777 would ask for permission before using any copyright material.
